You guys just got the North American title....don’t get greedyCanadian belt coming 2022
With NXT TakeOver: New Orleans now behind them, the Superstars of NXT begin to look ahead, some in hopes of positioning themselves for title opportunities, some seeking to settle old scores.
Following an incredible night at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, new NXT Champion Aleister Black begins his reign after defeating Andrade “Cien” Almas for the top prize on the black-and-yellow brand. However, Black’s victory was only one of the major developments coming out of Saturday night. Shayna Baszler dethroned Ember Moon for the NXT Women’s Championship in a brutally hard-hitting contest, and The Undisputed Era’s Adam Cole prevailed in the awe-inspiring Ladder Match to become the first-ever NXT North American Champion. That wasn’t the only highlight of the evening for The Undisputed Era, as Cole & Kyle O’Reilly retained the NXT Tag Team Titles when Roderick Strong shockingly turned on partner Pete Dunne and joined the dastardly faction.
On top of all that, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa closed out NXT TakeOver: New Orleans with an insanely brutal contest that saw Gargano regain his spot on the NXT roster in a war that will be remembered in WWE lore for the rest of time.
Now the big question remains: What’s next for sports-entertainment’s hottest brand?
Coming off her victory against Vanessa Bourne last week, Kairi Sane looks to continue her winning ways tonight on NXT when she battles “The Lady of NXT” Lacey Evans. The two Mae Young Classic alumni will throw down after Evans’ not-so-kind trash talk toward The Pirate Princess last week. Will Sane continue her march to the top of the division? Find out tonight when NXT streams live on WWE Network at 8/7 C.
Two of NXT’s fastest-rising tag teams will square off when Heavy Machinery collide with familiar foes Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli. With the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic now in the rearview and The Undisputed Era continuing their reign as NXT Tag Team Champions, which duo will begin to stake their claim for a crack at the tandem titles? Will Heavy Machinery’s brute strength and force pave the way to victory, or can Moss & Sabbatelli use their incredible athletic gifts to put them on the fast track?
With the likes of Ember Moon, The Authors of Pain and No Way Jose appearing on this week’s Raw and The Iconic Duo on SmackDown LIVE, how will the apparent departure of these NXT staple Superstars impact the rest of the black-and-yellow brand? Could it create new opportunities for other world-renowned competitors, now that the playing field is so wide open? And if so, might a new landscape in NXT begin to take shape tonight?
