WWE NXT preview, Nov. 1, 2017: Will AOP begin a new chapter of dominance against SAnitY?
Tonight on WWE Network, SAnitY defend their NXT Tag Team Titles against former champions The Authors of Pain, NXT Champion Drew McIntyre comes face-to-face with his TakeOver challenger, Andrade "Cien" Almas, and Johnny Gargano looks to rebound in singles competition against Fabian Aichner.
The Authors of Pain have returned with a vengeance to NXT, and they’re coming to reclaim the top prize in the Tag Team division.
Paul Ellering’s malicious monsters, former champions Akam & Rezar, will receive their NXT Tag Team Title rematch against SAnitY tonight at 8/7 C, only on WWE Network.
SAnitY’s Eric Young & Alexander Wolfe ended AOP’s undefeated streak and title reign in August at TakeOver: Brooklyn III with a thrilling victory. Following that loss, Akam & Rezar were nowhere to be found until two weeks ago, when they made their thunderous return to the black-and-yellow brand, interrupting a Six-Man Tag Team Match between SAnitY and The Undisputed ERA and laying waste to Young, Wolfe and Killian Dain.
NXT General Manager William Regal specified that both The Undisputed ERA and the member of SAnitY not competing in the match will be banned from ringside, all but ensuring outside forces don’t wreak havoc in the proceedings.
Can SAnitY topple the destructive Authors of Pain once again, or will Akam & Rezar’s fury be too much for the chaotic champions to endure?
Drew McIntyre and Andrade “Cien” Almas make their TakeOver: Houston NXT Title Match official
All NXT Champion Drew McIntyre ever asked of prospective challengers is to be man enough to challenge him face-to-face. Despite the clear-cut instructions, Andrade “Cien” Almas & Zelina Vegahave opted for a different method: While Almas has racked up wins, by hook or by crook, against some of NXT’s elite, he and Vega have relentlessly needled the hulking champion. In fact, it seems like Almas has done everything except issue a face-to-face challenge.
However, last week, after accusing McIntyre of being scared to wrestle him, Almas finally declared that he would meet McIntyre in the flesh this week on NXT, an offer that the Scottish brute was all too happy to accept.
Instead of allowing Almas and McIntyre to tear into each other at will, William Regal interjected on Twitter with major news of his own, announcing that Almas will face McIntyre for the title on Saturday, Nov. 18, at NXT TakeOver: Houston. The General Manager added that if the champion and challenger come face-to-face tonight, it will be to sign a match contract and make their TakeOver showdown official.
Will McIntyre and Almas keep their tempers in check when they finally meet in person?
Can Johnny Wrestling get back on track against Fabian Aichner?
Two of NXT’s most dynamic Superstars will tie up for the first time ever when Johnny Gargano faces fellow Cruiserweight Classic alumnus Fabian Aichner.
Johnny Wrestling will no doubt treat tonight’s match as an important litmus test. Plagued by bad breaks and self-doubt ever since he turned his focus to singles competition, Gargano is still reeling from a disappointing loss to Andrade “Cien” Almas three weeks ago.
NXT newcomer Aichner won’t make things easy for Gargano. Though Aichner came up short in his recent NXT debut against Kassius Ohno, his highlight-reel-worthy offense took the NXT Universe’s breath away.
Can Johnny Wrestling make up for his recent setbacks against Aichner? Find out tonight, streaming exclusively on WWE Network.
I wouldn't have Ember Moon win now either.
I'd have go straight to the main roster having never won it, or have her win it from whoever wins the 4-Way.
With Asuka having now given up the belt, I wouldn't want the person who failed in two singles matches to get it. It would make it look like the only reason she has it is because Asuka left. If Kairi wins, we can always have that what if scenario when they finally get in the ring together. I'd play on the Ember can't win the big one angle a little bit and have her overcome it WrestleMania weekend. That's kind of who I want to see win it, it was who I wanted and probably would have took it off Asuka whenever they decided to just end the damn title reign of hers.
But damn, Gargano is amazing.
