The first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic wraps up tonight on NXT with two must-see matches. See who advances to the second round when Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins & Kota Ibushi take on Lince Dorado & Mustafa Ali and #DIY battle HoHo Lun & Tian Bing.

TJ Perkins & Kota Ibushi vs. Lince Dorado & Mustafa Ali (Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First Round Match)
The first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic may just be saving the best for last, as WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJ Perkins & Kota Ibushi join forces to battle Lince Dorado & Mustafa Ali in what is sure to be a spectacular aerial showdown.

Ibushi was originally slated to team with Hideo Itami, but the Japanese competitor was replaced by Perkins after suffering an injury. While it remains to be seen who the better tag team partner would be, having the winner of the Cruiserweight Classic as your partner is not too shabby. In fact, Perkins and The Golden Star are far from strangers, having clashed against one another in a five-star showdown in the semifinals of the CWC.

Perkins & Ibushi may be considered the favorites in this matchup, but don’t underestimate Dorado & Ali, who also went head-to-head in the Cruiserweight Classic. The Golden Lynx of Lucha Libre and The Pakistani Prince are two of the most exciting in-ring competitors in the world, routinely throwing caution to the wind in an effort to take out their opponents.

Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa will make their second consecutive appearance in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, after making it to the second round in last year’s tournament. #DIY come into this year’s Classic a much improved team, having survived the ups and downs of battling for the NXT Tag Team Titles. But, while the best friends have loads of talent and plenty of experience on their side, they are far from a lock in their first-round matchup against HoHo Lun & Tian Bing.

Lun & Bing may not be as recognizable here in the States, but both competitors bring with them their fair share of international praise. Lun is a highly acclaimed competitor throughout China and Japan, in addition to advancing to the second round of the Cruiserweight Classic. Bing, meanwhile, is the WWE Performance Center’s first Chinese athlete and has already earned a victory in his first WWE bout in Shanghai, along with plenty of fanfare.
