WWE announced today its plans to launch the U.S. version of WWE Network as an over-the-top service in more than 170 countries and territories, starting on August 12. The network is expected to go live in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico, Spain and the Nordics, among other countries. WWE Network is also expected to arrive in the United Kingdom by October 2014, with expansion to Italy, UAE, Germany, Japan, India, China, Thailand and Malaysia following at a future date.

In related news, WWE and Rogers Communications announced an historic 10-year broadcast and multimedia agreement, which included plans to bring the popular WWE Network to Canada. Starting August 12, a preview of WWE Network content, including live WWE pay-per-view events, groundbreaking original series, live in-ring action, reality shows and a video-on-demand library, will be available on a subscription basis on Rogers Channel 512. Rogers will offer this WWE Network content preview subscription to all cable, satellite and IPTV providers across Canada.

The Aussies get it before you though :TI:
They were going to just steal it anyways.....

Rogers playing this the way WWE actually wanted their American providers to go, not sure if they eve gotten certified by the CRTC and wonder if they have to produce some "Canadian content"?

They can throw together matches from any Canadian wrestler and call it Canadian Content. I just hate we got shafted, seriously would have preferred the Network as an online streaming service, not a channel for a cable provider I don't have in my region, they just should have kept 24/7 if this was the direction they went.

Really don't know why they didn't just do this from the jump. Just didn't feel like it was a good look to limit it the way they did considering they have a much bigger fanbase than just the states. Guess it took them shitting themselves over how the network has been doing to realize it was something they should have already did.

Guessing it had more to do with all the licenses they would have to get to launch internationally.

Yeah but only reason I didn't bring that up is because with all the time they spent preparing for this launch you would think that was one of the main things they would try and cover before launching it.

Still haven't even filed for a CRTC license yet.

Just guessing it's a major hassle.

Remember them waiting to all their domestic tv deals expired to launch it?

My biggest beef is just ecw. I don't even care about a full on archive of the ordinal, I want the ecw on SyFy on demand so I can watch it. It had some of the best wrestling for a while in that 1 hour

Not sure why there were people acting like this shit was going to to take off in under a year....Netflix wasn't exactly a household product for awhile. Neither was Youtube when it launched. Shit takes time.

This is going to be the future.

Very true, and considering what people are getting for their money I do see this being a success in the long term. Don't agree that this is the future though, there is room for both formats to function.
