Event Announcement & 2017 Royal Rumble Match
The first pay per view event presented by World Wrestling Entertainment. For the new year aka 2017 was that year’s edition of the Royal Rumble ppv, which would take place on the 29th of January 2017. It was also revealed that the event would emanate from the Alamodome in San Antonio Texas.

Of course, the first match announced for the event was the annual titular thirty man over the top rope battle royal. Where the last man in the ring, would earn themselves a shot at either the Universal or WWE Championship. At the show of shows the grandaddy of them all WrestleMania.

The Universe is NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!
On the first episode of Monday Night RAW of 2017, Goldberg eliminated Chris Jericho. In the conclusion of a ten-man mini-Royal Rumble match. To not only be crowned the victor of the match, but also and more importantly to become the N1C to the WWE Universal Championship.

The current reigning champion aka the “Prize Fighter” Kevin Owens© wasted little time in making himself known to the N1C. By launching a post-match attack and planting Goldberg through the announce table with a Pop-Up Powerbomb.

Phenomenal X Apex X C-Nation
The 13th of January 2017 episode of WWE Friday Night Smackdown saw forever-rivals John Cena and Randy Orton. Add another chapter to their feud in a one on one men's division match. To determine a Number One Contender to the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble pay per view.

When it was all said and done and the dust had settled both men had their hands raised in victory, as a result of each pinning the other to the mat for a three count. ​

RAW Women's Championship
The 16th of January episode of WWE Monday Night RAW saw Paige compete in a triple threat N1C match. Against both Bayley and Sasha Banks, with winner challenging Charlotte Flair(c) for the WWE RAW Women's Championship at the Rumble. She would push Banks into Bayley and then roll her up for the win.

SD Women's Championship
Carmella beat the current WWE Smackdown Women's Champion aka Alexa Bliss(c) in a non-title match. Which took place on an episode of the blue brand's show, as a result she earned a future title opportunity.

She would tell FNS GM Daniel Bryan that she wanted it at the Royal Rumble ppv and he made it official.​

Cruiserweight Championship
The final match made official for the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble ppv event was a one on one match. For the WWE Cruiserweight Championship between the champion TJ Perkins(c) and the challenger Neville.

WWE Royal Rumble 2017​

The 2017 WWE Royal Rumble pay per view event went live with a one on one men's division match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Which saw the reinging champion TJ Perkins(c) attempt to fend off an attempt from Neville. Despite a good showing from Perkins he fell to the Red Arrow off the top rope.

Next up Alexa Bliss(c) retained the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship in a singles match. Her opponent was the "Princess of Staten Island" aka Carmella she got the win thanks to a Snap DDT.

Then Charlotte Flair(c) was challenged by Paige for the WWE RAW Women's Championship. When it was all said and done, we still had a Flair on top of the women's division of Monday Night RAW.

After that AJ Styles(c) defeated both John Cena and Randy Orton to successfully retain the WWE Championship. Orton attempted and successfully hit the RKO on Cena but when he attempted a pinfall he was interupted. In the form of a springboard 450 Splash from Styles who then pinned Cena.

In the penultimate match, Kevin Owens(c) put the WWE Universal Championship up for grabs against Goldberg. However the "Prize Fighter" wasn't without back up, as his Y2KO tag team partner Chris Jericho was in his corner. In the end Jericho distracted Goldberg which allowed Owens to roll him up with a handful of tights to get the win.

Finally, the night closed out with the thirty man over the rope battle royal aka the Royal Rumble match. In which superstars from the past, present and future competed for a world championship match at WrestleMania 33. It came down to a returning Finn Balor who entered as the first entrant. And a man he knew all too well in the form of Seth Rollins aka the last entrant into the match. It would be the latter who got the win by getting the better of the recently returned Balor.

The reigning and defending WWE Champion aka AJ Styles(c) retained the gold in a triple threat at the Royal Rumble ppv. The other two participant's were John Cena and Randy Orton, Styles pinned Cena to get the win. In the weeks leanding up to the blue brand exclusive ppv aka Elimination Chamber.

The man who didn't play a role in the decision at the Rumble aka Orton set his sights on Styles. Wanting to put a full stop on his feud with Orton, Styles laid the challenge for a one on one match at the ppv, of course Orton accepted. ​

Winner Challenges for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania - EC
On the post-rumble episode of Friday Night Smackdown, the brand's General Manager Daniel Bryan took to the ring. To announce that he had hand selected the six men who would enter the Elimination Chamber.

For a chance to challenge the winner of the WWE Championship for the gold at WrestleMania 33. The field of competiton would consist of Dean Ambrose, Baron Corbin, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, John Cena and Jack Swagger. ​
