Smackdown Road To WrestleMania 33

WWE Championship
AJ Styles(c) VS Dean Ambrose
The reigning WWE Champion aka the "Phenomenal" AJ Styles(c) had had a pretty great 2017 so far. Seeing off both John Cena and Randy Orton at the Royal Rumble ppv in one hell of a triple threat match. Then going onto Elimination Chamber to defeat Orton again this time in a one on one singles match. At the same event Dean Ambrose took part in the N1C Elimination Chamber match. Not only that but he was crowned the victor of it. Thus setting up a rematch between him and Styles for the gold at WrestleMania.

Smackdown Women's Championship - Championship VS Career
Alexa Bliss(c) VS Mickie James
After seeing off the most recent contenders (Becky Lynch) to her reign as WWE Smackdown Women's Champion Alexa Bliss(c). Would be attacked by the woman she beat at the Elimination Chamber in Mickie James. James made it clear that she wanted another shot, but Bliss refused then said she could have a shot on one condition. That being that when she loses again then James will retried from the company, shockingly James accepted.


Intercontinental Championship
The Miz with Maryse(c) VS John Cena
Where the current Intercontinental Champion The Miz had succeded in 2017, John Cena had failed. Something that The Miz found hilarious and mocked the "Leader of the C-Nation" repeatedly. So Cena confronted him and proceeded to put him through the announce table on an episode of FNS. Cena got a microphone and said that he would see Miz at Mania for the IC Championship.


Smackdown Tag Team Championship - 2/3 Falls
American Alpha(c) VS The Uso's
At the Elimination Chamber ppv event the Smackdown Tag Team Championship was on the line inside the titular structure. Which saw the current champions, American Alpha(c) barely retain them against the last time to enter the match in the form of the Usos. Chad Gable and Jason Jordan weren't happy about this, and issued the challenge for a two out of three falls rematch and the Usos accepted.

Number One Contender - WWE Championship
Baron Corbin Bray Wyatt VS Dolph Ziggler VS Randy Orton
Friday Night Smackdown GM Daniel Bryan added a huge fatal four way match to the card for the first evet two night WrestleMania ppv event. Featuring the quartet of Baron Corbin, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton. The winner of the match would earn a future shot at the WWE Championship

Other Matches

Cruiserweight Championship - Open Challenge
The final championship match made official for the WrestleMania 33 ppv regarded the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. The reigning champion, the newly named PAC(c) fka Neville laid out a challenge for the show of shows. An Open Challenge for any and all men to come and face him and lose to him.

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
The final match added to the WrestleMania 33 card was the fourth annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Which would feature a total of thirty three entrants, from Monday Night RAW, NXT and Friday Night Smackdown.

Hey y'all as you can see I am changing my 2026 era WWE btb into the second attempt at my one that starts in 2017. I just wanted to change a few things starting from my take on WrestleMania 33.

This is still my last attempt at a project.

WWE WRESTLEMANIA 33 NIGHT ONE

OPENING VIDEO + SHAPE OF YOU BY ED SHEERAN

We cut to the commentary booth, where the commentary team of Friday Night Smackdown. Meaning Mauro Ranallo and Tom Phillips taking it in turns to welcome the WWE Universe. To Night One of the first ever two-night WrestleMania ppv event.

AKIRA TOZAWA THEME
A rather energetic Tozawa made his way out to the ring.​

ARIYA DAIVARI THEME
Soon followed by the egotistical Daivari.​

WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP – OPEN CHALLENGE
The first two participants of the opening contest were the pair of Akira Tozawa and Ariya Daivari. With the former aka Tozawa managing to get the better of Davari with the Shining Wizard which led to the pin.
ARIYA DAIVARI IS ELIMINATED
CEDRIC ALEXANDER THEME
Tozawa and the new arrival aka Alexander shook hands before they locked up. Despite a good showing from Tozawa he ended up on the wrong side of a Lumbar Check.
AKIRA TOZAWA IS ELIMINATED
GRAN METALIK THEME
Alexander and Metalik tore the house down for a thrilling back and forth five minutes. In the end Alexander would score his second straight elimination.
GRAN METALIK IS ELIMINATED
LINCE DORADO THEME
Three for three that was Alexander’s score in terms of eliminations. After he got the better of Dorado this time with another Lumbar Check.
LINCE DORADO IS ELIMINATED
MUSTAFA ALI THEME
Despite a good showing from Alexander, he was obviously starting to feel the wear and tear of running the gauntlet. He ended up getting eliminated by Mustafa Ali with a 054.
CEDRIC ALEXANDER IS ELIMINATED
PAC THEME
The reigning and defending champion hit a cheap shot on Ali then rolled him up with a handful of tights.
MUSTAFA ALI IS ELIMINATED
TJ PERKINS THEME
As soon as Perkins entered the ring, he took the fight to the very man. Who defeated him to become champion in the first place. Perkins knocked PAC to the mat and dragged him into one of the corners of the ring. From here he went up to the top rope and attempted a Frog Splash, but PAC got the knees up. Which allowed him to transition into a pinfall attempt which was successful.
TJ PERKINS IS ELIMINATED
KALISTO THEME
The ninth and final entrant into the match came by way of Friday Night Smackdown. In the form of the “Masked Marvel” Kalisto, who put up one hell of a fight against PAC. So much so that he got the better of the latter with the Salida Del Sol.

FINN BALOR VS ROMAN REIGNS PROMO
A video package recapped the events that led to tonight’s number one contender match. Between Finn Balor and Roman Reigns, to find out who was next in line for a shot at the WWE Universal Championship.​

The “Real RockNRolla” made his way to the ring.​

Soon followed by his opponent for the night in the form of Roman Reigns.​

NUMBER ONE CONTENDER – UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP
FINN BALOR VS ROMAN REIGNS
As soon as the opening bell rang both Balor and Reigns clashed in the middle of the squared circle. With the latter getting the better of the former and taking control of the match. About five minutes the tides turned in the favour of Balor who proceed to fight like a man possessed. In the end, Reigns created some distance between him and Balor and proceeded to attempt a Superman Punch. Only for Balor to turn the attempt into a Sling Blade, from here he returned to his feet and then dragged Reigns into a corner. He launched himself off of the top rope in attempted Coup De Grace, but Reigns moved. Then got back to his feet and hit a Spear which led to the pin.

RAW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP TLC PROMO

It was now time for the pair of Cesaro and Sheamus to make their entrance​

Then the reigning and defending champions, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows made their way to the ring.​

THE HARDY’S BOYZ THEME
The returning Jeff and Matt Hardy made their way to the ring to a thunderous ovation from the WWE Universe.​

WWE RAW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - TLC
GOOD BROTHERS(C) VS NEW DAY VS THE BAR VS ENZO AMORE & BIG CASS VS THE HARDY BOYZ
As can be expected this match was utter chaos and carnage given that it was a tables, ladders and chairs affair. Anderson and Gallows took the fight to the Bar, while the New Day and Amore & Cass did the same. With both brawls spilling out of the squared circle and into the ringside area. Back in the ring and Jeff and Matt climbed up to two of the top turnbuckles and proceeded to launch themselves out onto the two brawls. After about fifteen minutes of utter carnage in which multiple tables, ladders and chairs were used to waged war. The match came to an end when Jeff and Matt Hardy climbed up opposite sides of the same ladders and unhooked the titles.

The third last match of WrestleMania 33 Night One was a one-on-one men’s division encounter. For the WWE Intercontinental Championship between the champion (Miz) and the challenger (Cena). Despite throwing every possible dirty tactic at his opponent, the Miz didn’t walk out with the title that he walked in with. As Cena fought out of an attempted Skull Crushing Finale and then turned around to face his opponent. And scooped Miz up onto his shoulders and hit an Attitude Adjustment for the pin.

RAW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP TRIPLE THREAT PROMO

In the penultimate match of the event was a triple threat match. Which was for the WWE RAW Women’s Championship, with its field of competition consisting of the champion and two challengers. For majority of the match, Flair attempted to play devil’s advocate and turn Bayley and Banks against each other. This didn’t end the way the defending champion hoped as instead of fighting each other, the pair of Bayley and Banks worked against her. Eventually though Flair would manage to grab Banks from behind and throw her into Bayley. Then role her up with a handful of tights.

What a way to cap off a historic night then to have the “Phenomenal” AJ Styles and the “Lunatic” Dean Ambrose run it back. For their brands top prize, the WWE Championship and just like their previous encounters this one was awesome. Champion and challenger went back and forth for damn near half and hour and it could have gone either way. It concluded in a thrilling sequence that concluded with Styles attempting a Phenomenal Forearm. Only for Ambrose to counter it by making Styles fall chest first onto the top rope. Then he dragged him off and hit Dirty Deeds for the win.
