That said, small dudes have NEVER been WWE's cup of tea. The best example you can cite in their multi decade history of a small man going to the top is Rey Rey and he got squashed to oblivion to make him pay for even thinking he could be champ.

But the sport has essentially evolved without WWE. That's why they are starving for quality talent so much for the next generation. Because all the next generation is are small guys. And WWE refuses to push small guys and that's all they have for a talent pool to dig into. So as long as WWE continues to insist upon hiring body builders & muscle heads they'll continue to be behind the game in terms of what serious wrestling fans consider good wrestling.

WWE doesn't care about us serious fans. It's all ratings so WWE has it's focus on the household. The kids and other kayfabe fans love rooting for the underdog. That is why Rey is so over because no matter what situation he is in, people are ALWAYS going to be behind him. So, if WWE refuses these small guys, it will eventually turn away their casual fans

I wouldn't say ignoring the littler guys are going to drive away casual fans per se, but EVENTUALLY the talent pool IS gonna dry up. There's not gonna be enough muscle heads with drawing power left. And they are gonna have to accept that the wrestling world has evolved to smaller guys. Once Batista, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Kane, Jericho, Big Show & Rey Mysterio hang up their boots within the next 2-5 years, WWE is gonna be in a trial period. They will either suck it up and evolve with the rest of the industry and teach the spot monkeys how to sell, or they are gonna whittle away until there's no big men left. If they choose the latter, they deserve whatever financial woes they drive themselves into.

WWE will be fine in the next few years if they continue to start building these young stars. Even if Vince is still hard up for big guys, which I don't necessarily agree with, WWE will still make do with what they have continue to succeed

Not only in WWE, but successful wrestling promotions in general. Go back through the territories, your Jim Crockett Promotion's, the AWAs, the ECWs, the WCWs, EVERYWHERE in America, if money was drawn, it was never, ever drawn by a champ that was under 6ft and under 215 lbs. Small fellas have never been North American wrestling's cup of tea. Most of them didn't have WWE physiques outside WWE, but they were all big men. It's a fact that is as old as the industry itself and why would WWE suffer through the immediate loss of funds and fans by trying to cater and pander to the relative few that believe otherwise?

Rey's title reign was more of a thank you for selling shitloads of merchandise and to cater to the Latino audience. Rest assure that had Eddy not died, he, not Rey would have gotten that title reign.

The only promotion you mentioned that's a false example would be ECW. All those guys were smaller than your average wrestler. Jerry Lawler would make fun of ECW calling them the land of the midgets. But then again you'd have to have a whole new debate formulated on whether you considered ECW superstars a draw in the first place. lol.

^^^ Bam Bam, Raven, Terry Funk, Sabu, Sandman, Tito Santana, Snuka, Shane Douglas, Rhino, Mike fuckin Awesome. They still had as big as guys as they could hold their top "heavyweight" strap, except Tazz, he was a shrimp but still weighed over 215 and Mikey Whipwreck, but that was "fluke" angle. They had certifiable heavyweights. They just weren't common roid busters like WWF's roster.
