That said, small dudes have NEVER been WWE's cup of tea. The best example you can cite in their multi decade history of a small man going to the top is Rey Rey and he got squashed to oblivion to make him pay for even thinking he could be champ.
But the sport has essentially evolved without WWE. That's why they are starving for quality talent so much for the next generation. Because all the next generation is are small guys. And WWE refuses to push small guys and that's all they have for a talent pool to dig into. So as long as WWE continues to insist upon hiring body builders & muscle heads they'll continue to be behind the game in terms of what serious wrestling fans consider good wrestling.
