WWE officials are once again looking to get rid of the Survivor Series pay-per-view in November. They reportedly want another concept pay-per-view to replace the big November event, which has been a WWE tradition for years.

NoDq

Might as well change to to something else, as they really don't even put the same amount of focus that they used to do on the Survivor Series type matches, wouldn't mind seeing the KOTR return to having it's own PPV.

Oh god. They're going to make another PPV where they base the advertising on the match type. THIS DOESN'T WORK. IT DOESN'T WORK. WHO CAME UP WITH THIS? WHY? IT DOESN'T WORK. A WHOLE CARD FULL OF HITC MATCHES RUINS THE MATCH. WHY DO YOU DO THIS WWE.

I really am disliking their new logic on PPV's. If they actually put some effort into pushing SS like they should than maybe the PPV would draw like they want. But when you half ass traditional SS match and the card period of course people aren't gonna buy into it too much.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. Look at 2010: Elimination tag match at Summerslam (Team WWE vs. Nexus), then the Bragging Rights PPV (another elimination team match) and then Survivor Series all within a few months. If they're going to hold the same concept twice right before Survivor Series then they're not going to put any effort into it the third time around.

What they need to do is make Survivor Series unique again. If they're going to have Bragging Rights, have a series of Raw vs Smackdown matches (singles and tag team) rather than one 10 man tag match. Put an odd number of matches on the card and that way the brand that has the most matches won will take Bragging Rights or however it works. That way Survivor Series is left to be built up as what it should be.

That's pretty much what I been thought Bragging Rights should be like. Makes no sense to do the whole 10 man tag deal in the first place when you've already had/have PPV like that. Just doing Smackdown vs Raw matches would be good enough.

This is what I'd do for Bragging Rights: Have a series of 7 or so singles matches between Raw and Smackdown superstars. Do some of them on Raws and Smackdowns leading up to the event, and then do a couple of them at the PPV. And the co-main event should be a ladder match, with the winners of all the matches participating for their teams, and the trophy (or something) is hanging from the ceiling. That would be something to build a show around, not another blah elimination match.

That's actually a pretty damn good idea. Don't recall ever seeing a tag match ladder as far as having 3 or more. So would be different.

I like that idea Sal. Just something other than another 10 man elimination tag match when it's only a few weeks before Survivor Series.

The whole Bragging Rights PPV is pretty much a waste anyway. Up until the month leading into the PPV, there's no real evidence of brand rivalry and the like so I don't really see the point. We then get to see the trophy on the winning show for a few weeks before it once again dissapears into obscurity for another 11 or so months.

Like mentioned above, 2010 totally killed the Survivor Series concept with the over using of the match type. Scrap Bragging Rights, save Survivor Series.

Thanks for the kind words folks. The only problem is that it would be a ladder match, and I don't see any other match making sense, and there are 2 other PPVs (MITB & TLC) with ladder gimmicks. Ah fuck it ladder matches are awesome.

it's obviously them trying to move away from the past. disgusting really, the heritage of an event like survivor series should be celebrated, not shunned.

Which is why they fuck themselves over with these gimmick match PPV's. You make it to where you can't do ladder matches or hitc matches in any other PPV's because it'd be overdone even if the situation called for that match type.

Exactly right. Hell in a Cell used to be special, it used to be the culmination of only the best, most violent feuds. Now they'll open a PPV with a 7 minute Punk/Taker match in the cell, just because that's the name of the show. It destroys the value of the match. It's not even going after casuals. It's going after Blue casuals.

I really hope they realize this themselves and slowly disband these ideas cause they are gonna get to the point where EVERY gimmick match has it's own PPV.
