Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins won the 2019 editions of the Women's(Lynch) and Men's(Rollins) Royal Rumble matches. With their victories they each earned a championship match of their choosing at WrestleMania 35. Both of them confirmed that they would be making their choices at the No Way Out ppv.

At the 2019 WWE Royal Rumble pay per view a shocking thing happened when the then WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar being sent on his way out of the company. At the hands of his opponent Finn Balor. Albeit with a little help from Lesnar's manager Paul Heyman turning his back on the "Beast Incarnate". On an episode of Monday Night RAW, Roman Reigns beat Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler in a four way match. To be the first challenger to Balor's second reign with the title. RAW GM Kurt Angle confirmed that the match would be a No Dq match.

Following her defeat of Sasha Banks at the WWE Royal Rumble ppv event to retain her WWE RAW Women's Championship. The current champion aka Ronda Rousey(c) cut repeated promos about how she had beaten two quarters of the so called WWE 4 Horsewomen. And she intended to beat them all before the end of the year. She was confronted by Bayley who told her to put her money where her mouth is and face her at No Way Out. Rousey agreed and promised that Bayley would live to regret it.​

BOBBY LASHLEY(C) VS KEVIN OWENS VS SAMI ZAYN
RAW GM Kurt Angle announced a Number One Contender match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The current champion Bobby Lashley and his hype man Lio Rush had other plans. As they interfered in the match and attacked both men resulting in a no contest. Angle announced a triple threat for the title at No Way Out and banned Rush from the building.
