I do think the issue here is you both assume the worst out of each other at times and take every minor sling or sus as something it's not. Maybe in that case, it would pay to consider that you're talking to and about someone who's

(1) not used to such a tonal difference between you and everyone else that it comes across harsh
(2) got valid reason to assume there's bad blood still there
