Xenus was only alive for 1 night phase, that was N1. so if he used it on N1, the FOLLOWING day phase is D2, therefore whoever he poisoned would have died in the D2 post along with Xenus. it is now N2, but Xenus is dead, so he can't poison anyone

If I had to guess, scum was scared of my role plus it was the only one outed at the time besides Banez being DV so if they overrate roles then me as the kill makes sense. Factoring in that they could have also thought N0M was going to be watched since he's confirmed and a likely kill choice
