When I have time, I will give a brief explanation regarding each city-state within Dystraea, but for now, I also give you the four major factions of the continent:
- The Postrian Church
The de facto state religion of all cities, as decided upon by the Postrian Accord (which of itself began the Postrian Era). The Church is based, invariably, in Postria, a holy city of marble, gold, and deep religion. The church has a foothold in all cities and also serves as figurehead and diplomatic middlemen when it comes to negotiations or adjudication between conflicting city states. It is headed by the Postrian Pontiff, the highest religious position on the continent (think the Catholic Pope).
- The Order of Brumel
The Order is essentially a militant holy order in close alliance with, but not subordinate to, the Postrian Church. The order is primarily used to protect church officials or travel the continent and taking on various jobs that high ranking officials of the order hand down. Additionally they are able to form their own armies in times of crisis. The Postrian Pontiff serves as the de jure figurehead, though the de facto leader of the Order of Brumel is the Grandmaster.
- The Gordian Guild
The Gordian Guild is the primary adventuring guild of the continent of Dystraea. Headquartered in New Gordon, this group of adventurers is primarily what you would expect from a fantasy adventuring Guild, taking odd jobs based on level of experience and rank within the organization throughout the continent. Higher ranked members of the guild are also accepted to explore what is known as the Tyrian Spire, a massive series of underground dungeons, caverns, and still yet fully unexplored areas known to contain all manner of unique locales and flora/fauna.
- The Lavell Arena
The Lavell Arena is the most famous building in Falkneth, and is home to three major sub-groups of fighters and gladiators who take part in blood sport within its hallowed halls. The three teams are: the Golden Wolves, Red Bears, and Black Dragons.
