The buyrate for WrestleMania 29 was 1,039,000 buys, down from last year's 1,217,000 buys.

May's Extreme Rules did 231,000 buys compared to last year's 263,000 buys (which featured Brock Lesnar).

The June Payback PPV did 186,000 buys. That was behind last year's No Way Out, which did 194,000 buys. It should also be noted that WWE had an extra PPV last May in Over The Limit, which did 167,000 buys.
For the second quarter in 2013 WWE sold 1,551,000 PPVs. In 2012, they sold 1,897,000.

Down on last year but still over the magical million buy mark which is huge. The repetition of the main matches probably hurt the show a bit but still a strong result. The other PPVs didn't do too badly to draw similar numbers, nothing exceptional though.

Seems reasonable enough and nothing to be alarmed about. I'm sure WWE had higher, albeit unrealistic expectations for WrestleMania for the top two matches given the people involved but realistically it was never going to draw more given they were both rematches although anything over a million is still a success I'd imagine.

Extreme Rules was bound to decrease, going from Cena/Brock to Cena/Ryback was always going to be a step down.

Wonder what the buyrate would've been if it was Brock vs Taker instead of Trips.

Next Mania, gimmick the fuck out of it Mania X-7 style.

Not really, pretty much like how many more people watch the Superbowl instead of regular games.

Yeah. but most of those admit to only watching for the commercials.

And most wrestling fans will only buy one Pay Per View all year. It doesn't matter, all it means is business.

Got to agree with you there. It takes a pretty big card to have the common wrestling fan order a PPV. And with them being like 50 bucks a pop now, its kind of hard to rationalize spending over 600 dollars a year in wrestling PPV's. At least for some broke ass like me.

I get WrestleMania every year, and I try to have the money saved up to get Royal Rumble every year too.

I can't wait to see what numbers they can do with Undertaker vs. Cena, fingers crossed that is booked for WM XXX.

These are the two PPVs that I always buy every year as well, even bought them in years when I wasn't regularly watching the product. You know that you can be pretty confident in these two shows delivering. WM since it is the culmination of the biggest feuds is WWE's biggest show so they pull out all the stops and the Rumble because of the Rumble match.

Wasn't Trips, it was Punk.

All makes sense. Taker's match is the Mania draw, you stick him against a bum and people don't watch.

Which is why this 'Mania was almost even with the one two years ago that had The Rock as the host and the first Trips/Taker match. Fucking Punk, not getting more people to watch him wrestle 'Taker than people who watched The Rock wrestle for the first time in 8 years the year before.
