I felt this way before he has the match of the weekend with Omega. I don’t care if Gabe Kidd isn’t Japanese…he’s the guy. Of this generation of Tsuji, Yuya, Shota, Fujita, Ren….its Gabe Kidd. Has been for a while. Hell, half of Finlay‘s problem was having to do promos next to him for so long. How could I buy Finlay as the leader when Kidd is so clearly the man? Finlay figured a way around it. But Gabe is still the one.

Everyone has underestimated the damage done to Ricochet being nothing in WWE for years. They just catapult him into Dome main events and beating Will Ospreay. It’s insane. It’s not remotely his fault…but you gotta build him back up with time and let the stink wash off.

I know it’s a much smaller pond but I think about how Scott D’Amore booked Steve Maclin from WWE less than nothing to champion. That shit works. It was compelling. And I literally rolled my eyes when they ran his debut vignette . Oh Deonna’s partner got a job there…this will work out great. But it did. Because they didn’t just drop him in and say here’s a new main eventer. A year and a half later I was totally invested in him taking a run at the top.

Great event , a bit sullied by the over the top.commentary , which would have been fine they had an aew commentator to balance. Chris sounded a bit too much like a SC jersey or njpw redditor n it got cringey because it's a one sided feud. Hopefully they can build njpw vs aew better next time n this type of stuff makes more sense. Calling Okada n shibata traitors n calling tk a money mark were some pretty low point that did not add drama or stakes to the matches he was calling. He ended up posting an apology about it even, so he knows he went too far. Do think.he just worked a bi too hard nlesson learned tho

nbd either way I get what he was going for and I hope they use it as a lesson to better promote the rivalry and the hsow over all next year. rumors already they'll detach it from wk weekend which is a good idea.

I also just rewatched Omega Kidd and it was still great, Career defining performance for Kidd

I had to mute commentary and go back to the start of the match during Omega vs Kidd. it was fucking annoying and off putting

it got a bit annoying for me but nothing to make me turn it off. I think it just would have been more effective if there was Nigel or something on the other side to balance it out. I get he's trying to stir up interest and drama for views but yeah, I thought he went a little too far with the insider baseball/redditor speak shit lol

nah I get your point - I knew what he was doing but he was over doing it and it got to become cringey. esp during omegas entrance n stuff like that when it was not relevant.

it's also a bit odd the face commentator is siding with the heel, regardless how passionate Gabe was, he was still talking a lot of bollocks and you need a commentator to be like "well Gabe is passionate but here's reality" to balance it out . I can imagine a few aew fans might be turned off by commentary like that when there's no actual promotional rivalry angle setup so if ur not super plugged into njpw u think he's shooting
