The song appeared on both the TV series as well as their 1967 album, More of The Monkees. Although never released as a single, it has appeared on several of the band's subsequent "Greatest Hits" albums and was regularly performed at live shows. This was the first released Monkees song to feature Peter Tork on lead vocals. An instrumental version of the song can be heard during Major Nelson's bachelor party in "I Dream Of Jeannie" Season 5 Episode 6 and the hippie party in "Never Put A Genie on a Budget" Season 5 Episode 14.

The song peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart and at number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100. It charted at number 10 in the UK Singles Chart, giving them their only top ten hit in that country.
The song was included on Pearl Jam's 2004 greatest hits album, rearviewmirror (Greatest Hits 1991–2003).
