Possibly because he got complacent and stopped giving a f***.
I sincerely doubt it. WWE in this day and age isn't sending out guys in front of a crowd with a live mic without essentially scripting the promo start to finish (unless you are Heyman or Cena or someone like that).

Like I said, he was cutting the same promo for 3 years from the time he debuted, complacency wouldn't make sense. He always had charisma and delivery in his promos IMO, it was just the subject matter that nobody gave a shit about. He hit the same handful of bullet points every single week.

We're clearly seeing two different cats. I saw unmotivated promos and you saw charisma and delivery. Go fig.
It's rather odd, but then again I'm apparently the only person on the board who thinks Randy Savage's promo's eat catsh**.

Motivated or not, you are missing the point. Of course he was unmotivated at a certain point. If you were a wrestler and every Monday before the show they give you the same damn promo to cut you are going to lose excitement as well.

unless you think they gave ADR a live mic and told him to go ad lib, I don't see what we are arguing here. WWE gave ADR the same promo to cut for 3+ years.

He wasn't given fresh material, I get that. His work on the stick deteriorated sometime after losing to Edge at WM27.

My confusion is this: You said he always had charisma and delivery, yet you admitted he became unmotivated. How can you have charisma and delivery, yet be unmotivated?
Are you saying his charisma and delivery dipped through his lack of motivation?

Those are the dots that are pretty easy to connect. His presence and facial expressions carried his speaking segments early on, but after a while people don't want to hear the same shit, and he clearly was tired of producing the same shit. It was two-fold between him regressing and the audience completely losing interest in hearing him talk about destiny and chiwawas and peasants

Cena in I Quit matches... now there's a streak that will never be broken lol. Until maybe after he turns heel, of course.

The internet would explode if Cena said I quit.

It would be pretty gay to say, "Ladies and Gentleman John Cena is 24-0 in I Quit matches, he is infallible in these situations".
If ever there was something obvious, it would be that. It's great to have a number in sports and a streak cannot truly exist without a number attached to it.
A gimmick match may be more appropriate than a stip. Being undefeated at Hell in a Cell, Ladder Matches, Inferno Matches, Casket Matches all of a sexier ring to it.
