Seeing police officers abuse their power by shooting black people puts a big frown on their profession. I see this type of news pop up a lot lately and it's becoming a huge problem. The police officers who commit these crimes attacking any person of color, should be tried for murder. The bad thing is, they seem to get away scot free and that too puts a frown on their profession. People deserve justice from these horrible incidents, doesn't matter if you're white, black, etc,. I may hate Colin Kaepernick for certain things I will not discuss, but his stance on police brutality has become more evident with the ongoing news that continues to come out. I'm slowly start to come around by agreeing on his stance on police brutality.

Tbh cops are most likely significantly less racist than they have been in the past (just like the rest of the world is), these stories just make national news more than they would have in the past.

Obviously I still think its a major problem that needs to be addressed, i just think its not necessarily true that cops are worse now about this stuff than they were in the 80s and 90s or earlier.

We all know the news only reports the bad shit. But, the reality is until cops are held more accountable for their actions and most of them are still being held accountable but it's not enough. If you ask me. I think the process to become a cop needs to be a little bit more than a field test, and academy. I believe there should be mental evaluations done before hiring and regularly throughout their tenure. I also think deeper background checks need to be done diving deep into the hires.


I also think they need more sensitivity training cause what they have in place across the board just isn't cutting it. Also, throw in constant refresher courses of what they were taught in the academy could help stem some of this bullshit that the bad ones do.

A lot of stupid people own guns. Doing deeper background checks might help a bit, but, it’s gonna be hard to weed out all the unfit owners....all those people who don’t have a history of violence and don’t currently have mental issues are gonna obviously slip by. 228 police shootings this year, only 31 of those shot were black. So if this news is popping up a lot lately, I guess you are reading the same story, just reposted on different sites.

It’s certainly not stupid to get the impression that it happens all over, all the time, it’s the way the media picks and chooses what to report on. White on black is going to get more clicks and more discussion. I came across a story on TMZ about a week ago that showed footage of a white cop beating a white man for absolutely no reason. It happens to everyone, the media just doesn’t find it as interesting.

Last I checked, black on black violence had way larger statistics, but, how much do you read about that in the news?

This isn’t to say there isn’t racism involved in these situations with white cops and black “suspects”, just saying, there’s another big issue out there that people don’t seem to make as big a deal as it should be. The only thing that I’ve heard in years about black on black violence was a 15 year old boy was shot and died like a month ago and his mother was interviewed and said black on black crime needs to stop. Other than that, it seems to be a pretty quiet issue, at least where I am.
