X-Men film franchise producer Simons Kinberg has confirmed that Wolverine 3 has begun filming.

The film will be Hugh Jackman’s final performance as Wolverine, and Kinberg promises this movie will stand out from previous installments in the series.

“It’s a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you’ve ever seen in any of these movies,” Kinberg tells Collider.

While Kinberg stopped short of confirming that Patrick Stewart will be reprising his role as Professor X for the film, he did confirm that Wolverine 3 will be R-rated.

“I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say about that,” Kinberg said. “I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumored to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone. It’s just a very cool, different film.”

The film being R-rated, set in the future, and having the tone of a western all fall in line with rumors that the movie will be based on Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s 2008-2009 “Old Man Logan” story, which involved Wolverine travelling cross-country in a dystopian future where the supervillains had won.

I don't care what it is rated as long as it isn't the steaming pile of shit that the last one was.

I hope Hugh enjoys his last go around. In a few months, he'll hang up the claws forever.

20th century fox just released the first trailer for Logan.

Shit looks like an old western and pretty damn sad. Probably gonna be a great swan song for Hugh.

I'm assuming the child the film is centered around will be X-23, so that'll interesting so where they go with it.

I'm glad they're going this route. The toned down storyline(not all huge and encompassing like Apocalypse was). More self contained and small like Deadpool was.

Going to be sad knowing this is his last run as Wolverine.

Looks awesome.

Very sad indeed. I think people are going to come out hard for this movie and this is Wolverine we always wanted to see.

I hope people come out hard. The x men film series has made significantly less money than the MCU films. Still a lot by any standards just not by superhero film standards. Let's see if Hugh's retirement can reel em in.

People are gonna shit on it because it's not real Marvel.....much like every other superhero movie made since Avengers.

Yep.

But the true test of a good super hero movie, and comic for that matter, is if the story is really good and engaging even if you took away all the powers.

Winter Soldier was that good. TDK too.

This looks like it could be like that.

X Men started the modern day superhero fad so their movies have gotten a pass most of the time.
