What a match that was. Hunter and Taker pullled out quite a bit, but compare match by match, did they beat last years run?

And here is the real question: looking back at Mania now, Hunter and Taker was one of the most highly hyped match, did it live up to the hype? Did this truly end an era? Will we see the Undertaker back in the WWE for a match? Or is this his final curtain call?

Discuss.

I don't think it lead up to the hype or caliber of last year's match. It was a good match but was all pretty much spots and resting while they caught their breath. I did like the addition of HBK and I thought it did well in playing the conflicted role in having to watch his best friend get destroyed by this immortal or the power of holding the ability to end the streak in his hands. It was a nice little HBK heelish promo he did about the match, but honestly last year was better. In my opinion I don't feel like they used the Cell to it's advantage at all. Prob my least favorite HIAC match next to the tag match between DX and Vinny Mac.

Both are done in the ring from what I saw tonight. HHH will go backstage and run the show, and I think Taker will ride off into the sunset. Who knows, they may try 21-0 next year but I highly doubt it. It might of just been me but I think Taker looked pretty out of shape tonight.

Also on a side note Taker's ring gear he wore was sick.

Taker/HHH just felt like the same match as last year to me but with a cage around them, which I think they used a couple of times in the first few minutes before resorting to chairs, steps, ref bumps and the sledgehammer. It was basically another No Holds Barred match.

And despite my words in the other thread I don't think it was a bad match. The brutality in the first half of the match was very enjoyable but it just kinda turned into an overbooked clusterfuck.

I Don't know, I enjoyed this match a lot. Think it lived up to last years but don't know if it was better. It was a tad over the top with the finishers and chair shots but that didn't really bother me. All in all, I enjoyed it.

Thought it was MILES better than last years but not HIAC worthy. Had some nice looking brutality and great storytelling but like somebody already mentioned, they really didn't make any use of the cell at all imo. In the end it just seemed like they used it as a cheap prop to try and garner some interest in the match.

I agree with you defiant it pretty much was No Holds Barred part two. They didnt even go on top of the cell or anything, which I understand cause I don't think either one of them could take a fall from such height anymore.

Match of the night, maybe a match of the year this early for some people.

Why it took place in the cage? Simple. Everybody knew that they can't make it better than they did last year. Many people think that it was better only because it was in the cage but c'mooon. What did they do with the cage? Nothing. Undertaker smashed HHH right into the cell only once. It wasn't worth it. I still enjoyed the match and I'm glad they didn't include that "finisher drama" as they did last year. A couple of kick outs of hard moves, couple of finishers and it was enough. At least for me. They put up a great match with some hardcore elements. Looked good and people were going BANANAS. I only didn't like that post match thing. I mean, ok, let them show some respect to each other but I think that HBK and HHH should leave the ring and let The Deadman perform his typical taunt alone.

I felt like the three of them walking out together was great. It showed that these three men have spent YEARS entertaining us the fans, and now they walk out one last time together, with all the history they've brought to this PPV in the last four years alone. It's the true end of a legacy so to speak.

The thing is no one besides Foley or Hardy would take a bump off that new cell as it is suicide. I knew they weren't going out unless if they brought back the vintage one. That said the match was far better than last year as neither man was restricted by injury. I'll also say that they had the most brutal match in the new Cell structure by far since it was implemented as no one hardly uses that structure since it is taller and the metal thicker

Considering I don't think the match was hyped well at all, I would definitely say it surpassed the hype. The hype was annoying as all hell.

The match itself was infinitely better than WMXXVII. Not even close.

I agree with this, last years wasn't that great, Taker looked as fucked as Hardy at Victory Road. This time it was brutal as fuck, they beat the shit out of each other and everyone sold it perfectly.

As for where they go from here, it'd be easy to say Taker will go on another 11 month paid holiday but he looked pretty good in there, I think we'll see him again pretty soon. Same with Trips and Michaels, there will probably be some wrap up segment tonight.

I think they had to improvise because when Triple H went got thrown into the cell it looked like it was about to break so they probably changed a few things because for safety not just for them but for everyone else as well.

I think all 3 are possibly done. The way it ended with all three last night suggests to me that it is truly an end of an era and Taker is gone at 20-0.

I thought it was a very fun match that delivered with epic story telling. It had it's dull moments and really unpredictable spots so I was pleased. I'm not a huge fan of either guy (actually i'm a pretty big Triple H hater even though I respect him in the ring) but they did their job. HBK needs to ref more often btw.
