Windows said:
On 15th March 2013 we are retiring the existing Messenger service globally (except for mainland China where Messenger will continue to be available) and bringing the great features of Messenger and Skype together. Update to Skype and sign in using a Microsoft Account (same as your Messenger ID) and all your Messenger contacts will be at your fingertips. You’ll be able to instant message and video chat with them just like before, and also discover new ways of staying in touch with Skype on your mobile and tablet. Update Now!

End of an era with MSN closing down. It is nowhere near as popular as it used to be but it was huge at it's peak before all these other social media sites became huge. It is still a reasonably popular service but Windows clearly want to get some return on their purchase of Skype so forcing everyone to use it is a smart move for them.

I haven't used it for quite some time but I used to use it a lot in high school. The best use for it was when I would play online poker. I would have MSN open and in it I would be chatting to my best mate. Then I would have online poker loaded and my mate and I would play on the same table. Then on MSN we would share what cards we had so that we each knew two more cards on the table to give us a slight edge. Worked so well for so long.

Anyone still use MSN? Anyone used to use it a lot?

MSN was great for talking to chicks. It's different on Facebook (probably because I'm older). I became close friends with many people through MSN and it was an easy way to get close to people.

Dat nostalgia.

Hooked up with some women using messenger. Nostalgia makes me sad to see it go.

Oh well. It didn't do anything plenty of other services did long before. Skype is a much better tool anyways. The video chat on MSN was awful and laggy. Good riddance.

I use MSN for PPV's and such and talk to people there instead of opening up another window/tab.

The move to Skype is a good thing and will function quite well.

Shoutout to Deezy, AF and Mick Donalds for knowing the drill.

Only thing that pissed me off about MSN was the Blue long names with shit like - :);):(:':)o:p:$:S€Â¥Â£~=\~[~]¿<3<3 <3 - in. Never knew which person was which b/c everyone changed their name so often....reminds me of someone on here.

I used to use it all the time to communicate with people on these forums to set shit up. I haven't been on MSN in over a year though so I'm not too upset about this.
