Well however you wanna split hairs, he asked for a release and was denied it whatever his motives were but i'm not gonna go back and forth on that.
Didn’t Black himself deny this?

I could see Shawn going to main roster stuff and Regal Assuming his position in NXT

Yeah seems by all reports he is going back in a backstage role which he actually didn't have in AEW, he was an on screen talent. Makes sense to me if TK let him out early or gave him a conditional out clause that he could go back if offered that type of role. Def. not the same as allowing a talent release to go wrestle for another company right away. Plus there's the veteran respect thing, there's no reason for TK to not let him go. Was a fun ride and I hope he has a good time in NXT etc with his son and running stuff again.

I love how he’s honest and says it’s not “entirely true”

Sounds like there were people like Pillman Jr who truly did sit on Regal’s learning tree, but maybe there were people who kinda disregarded him.

Which would be crazy because William Regal is exactly the type of person whose brain I would love to pick if I was in the business.

it sounds crazy but it's not, it's every generation in every sports since forever. He was complaining about kids being on their phones in NXT as well. Some kids thinking they know everything and not respecting or listening to their elders is a forever curse :(

So crazy when the world doesn't work exactly the way you think it should, right?

I'll say this, Pillman has looked better as of late so whatever changes and advice he decided to take, great.

But yeah I mean it's just how the world has always been and some ppl who didnt listen will succeed regardless. some wont. and vice versa. there is never a one size fits all approach but I certainly understand why older guys just shake their heads.

to add to the thought, you will hear this from AEW for a while longer as well. AEW is chaos by design in a lot of areas because they are young and "small" as an operation compared to the WWE machine. They don't have multiple training centers across the globe. They have the nightmare factory which they don't even really own and it's basically voluntary. Again, all by design for the time being. Will we see it one day? I'd say yes. But it's year 3 and I think we're going to continue to see some growing pains and figuring out what works, what doesn't, etc. I see no issue with Regal going back to the structure he's accustomed to either nor do I see it as a negative towards AEW at all.

I don’t think anyone that thinks logically sees it as a negative.

While I do think there’s more that could have been done with him on screen, his short run wasn’t bad. Not like he pulled an Andrade and tried to force his way out.

Whether it was only a one year deal or he had the choice to opt out, he wanted to go back to one of his closest friends in the business.

No harm, no foul on either side

couldn't agree more. I think only people who want to frame AEW in a negative light have used it as a SEE SEE thing but fortunately, this place has been extremely measured and chill compared to certain other corners of the net lmao

edit: I'm sure there are also a portion of weirdos that are mad he left too which imo is even weirder

Lol I’ve seen people over react on Twitter but most people are logical on here.

Plus, if you want to push the “SEE SEE” narrative, there’s other things to look at instead of this minor thing.

Again, it doesn’t sound like Regal said “I can’t deal with this shit anymore”. He just wanted to be where he was more comfortable. And even going back to WCW, Hunter felt in debt to Regal. So there’s a bond there that TK and company can’t compete with.

yeah i think the moment HHHH took over, it was only a matter of time for Regal to come home

Facts.

And I think he’s not the only one. I truly think if Hunter takes over 6 months earlier, Cole/Fish and KOR don’t leave.

Maybe they actually make an offer to keep Saraya, etc.
