Meltzer was texted during the show by a WWE employee stating that the reason Zack was not on the show is because "Vince hates the internet". Backstage, many, many people were upset that the person getting the most chants throughout the night was not brought out for a promo or even a quick appearance in his hometown who clearly wanted him there. Meltzer got some more information today on the thought process.

Evidently, it was indeed a rib/joke being played on Zack. Zack had spent his prior show talking up how he was in his hometown, how excited he was, how this could be his chance to finally shine and move up on the card. Zack was told a few days ago he would have a promo and a match on RAW and would turn face on RAW, even being able to acknowledge his youtube show and Internet Champion gimmick. This is why Zack was so excited the past few days.

The rib went so far as there was even a fake script and timeline alloted for Zack to come out and wrestle, besides Superstars, with his RAW promo and on air face turn. When the time came close for this to happen, Zack was informed plans changed and he would not be on air. This was literally during the broadcast. The entire rib was Vince's idea and was because Vince is not a fan of the "bashing" Zack does about WWE and sees it as "giving in" to someone who is visibly bashing the company with "dropping ball" clips, etc.

Meltzer comments that the real joke is on the fans, as the reaction to him not being on air is not pretty and as the rib is being revealed, even less people are happy. Multiple wrestlers have stated their public displeasure with the rib and John Cena was said to directly confront Vince over the situation and what he felt was a poor joke.

Wow...really? I don't remember Vince ever going that far to "rib" a worker. If things would have gone as planned, Zack Ryder could've been skyrocketed to new heights. I guess it's all a fantasy now :smh

I don't believe this. There's no way Vince passes up on creating a potential star over a couple of cracks. He's still offering Punk contracts and Punk has gone on for months about management being off their rocker.

This seems unbelievable as Hell. I doubt it, majorly. However, IF it is true, and Cena confronted Vince about it... then I respect Cena a helluva lot more than 95% of the roster and hope Vince croaks soon.

Not sure I buy the validity of all of this. A Ryder shoot interview will be interesting whenever he is released though.

Probably won't have to wait long. They've already started their annual cleaning this week and I wouldn't be surprised to see Ryder's name on the list by the time it's all over.

One thing I do believe is that he's got support from the Superstars and Cena. I think Cena's got the pull to sway them from cutting Ryder, or at least consider a little heavier not cutting him.

BTW, if the "Vince hates the internet" thing is legit, there's no way he pulls to have that huge Twitter war between Rock, Cena, and Miz before Mania go on... nor does he encourage the two of them to continue it via the internet.

A couple of things to consider though. Vince may hate the internet but I would assume that he loves money so if Rock/Cena/Miz twitter wars bring in a little extra cash then it's likely fine with him. Not to mention that those three guys are on a plane of existence that Zack Ryder has never even come close to.

Also, I haven't seen any of his videos, but if he is taking quiet shots at WWE then there is a big difference between what Rock/Cena/Miz did and what he does.

He tapes a picture of himself on a basketball and drops it, he puts his action figure on the back burner of his stove, he keeps his action figure from sitting on his tv... yeah, shots, but they're horrendously comical. He's never explicitly stated, "THIS IS BULLSHIT! YOU GUYS HOLD ME DOWN!" It's basically just him saying "Give me a chance, I can be successful!" The only thing they could really be pissed over is his use of WWE in his videos (even though he's employed by WWE, he's supposed to) and that he's got over 100,000 views on every one of his videos, so the numbers could be slightly intimidating for Vince. But it should at least merit an opportunity to be put on TV and prove you can go. The guy's merchandise has flown off of shelves, he's one of the most well-represented superstars in terms of crowd display since he started his show, and he's not really had a bad match on Superstars or his match with Kofi.

Then TNA picks him up and he has a 6 month feud with Robbie E or whateverthefuck his name is as both go back and forth as face and heels. OHHHHH BOY.

I believe it. Like they say, wrestlers who are 'marks for themselves' never get anywhere. Someone like Vince, the 'promoter', obviously wants to be the one who 'made' Zack Ryder. In other words, he's just pissed Zack Ryder got over by himself, on his own show. If it's true, hope Vince and his ego sucks a dick and can't wait til he's dead so more talent gets a chance to shine. Enzo will probably be right about Ryder being released eventually if the show continues.

God awesome, look at the pop and all those signs. Finally got to cut a promo, the most lol part was when you see his dad and he's still wearing the Morrison shirt. Also, THE BIG O!

^Granted it was hometown... even Batista had problems getting DC to pop like that.

Fuck Vince! Fuck anyone else who might have a problem with Ryder! He needs to send the Big O in to deal with Vince... and LMFAOOOO @ Zack's dad. He's the second best character WWE "has".

You can ask Jim Ross how Vince feels about treating talent good in their hometown. And this is why WWE is so bad now. It used to be people who got over were given the opportunity to take the ball and run with it. Now it seems like the same thing happens over and over again. The fans get behind somebody. WWE gives them a little push. Then during one particular event the crowd reaction is slightly less than what it should be and Vince pushes the panic button and de-emphasizes or de-pushes them. It's gonna be interesting to see what kind of chants Ryder gets tonight and this week considering they're not gonna be in Ryder's hometown.
