When you buy a ticket, you have the right to chant whatever, basically. If the crowd wants to chant "fuck you hunter" loud and proud, they can. If they want to chant "cm punk" they can. Sure, I don't like when fans hijack a show, but around mania season, fans get a little more roudy in general and purposely do so with the likes of Steph and hunter, ever since DB was on the scene. It's fine and in most cases I find it funny.

All in all, they paid to be there and if they want to chant CM Punk to get under triple h or Steph's skin, they can and should be allowed to do so. Annoying at times? Of course. Perfectly acceptable and okay to do? Yes, it quite frankly is. Once you start drawing the lines on chants, as long as they're not extremely inappropriate, it ruins the WWE universe.

Its disrespectful. All its really doing is shitting on the people in the ring in favour of some douche who quit because he didn't get a 500 day World Title run.

Well there was more to it than that but he basically made it seem like that was the main reason. The "CM" stood for "Crying Man"-Punk :jeritroll:

I never cared for Punk so I find it annoying and distracting when they chant it.

I do think it changes the interactions between wrestlers. I think a lot of more of the show is improv based on the crowd reaction than most people think.

100% correct. And you didn't make a single masturbation reference!

Seriously...why pay your hard earned money to go to a show and just be a negative asshole?

It's not being negative though.... people are having fun at the expense of Vince because they know it pisses him off and he's a prick, he deserves it. lol common since when did Vince McMahon become the GOOD guy here, fuck that guy lol, he doesn't give a shit about the fans.... the fans let him know right back who they want to see, and it isn't whoever is in the ring. What kind of business tells you not to come? lol

The bottom line is this:

The chants aren't going away

....ever.

He has the most loyal fanbase there is, the same kind of fans Austin had. There's a reason for that.

They would do anything for him because he busted his ass to make the show entertaining for them where as most of the guys are just robots.

Whether WWE or anybody else likes it, whether it's wrong or right, they're not going to win this one... because they're assholes to their die hard fans. It doesn't matter if there is other fans... the die hard fans are the one's WWE made promises to & then broke. They're the fans WWE trained & brainwashed to have an "attitude" tell people to "suck it" as little kids & flip them the bird.... they can't complain when it comes back to bite them. Not to mention in this case, they deserve it.

I certainly think he will be back at some point, if somebody like Bret Hart came back, it's just the nature of the business and when he does you'll look back at those chants as being more relevant than ever and as the fans never forgetting him & when he does comes back the chants will be louder than ever.

The chants aren't going to stop, ever & Punk knew that when he left, which is why he didn't need to stay & put up with their corporate, politics bullshit. You're allowed to change professions if you're unhappy.

WWE can claim this is about ruining it for the other wrestlers all day long but if you have half a brain you know it has nothing to do with that, it's because of their own selfishness & they just don't like hearing "CM Punk"

Too fucking bad.

They want to prove that they don't need him & that he needs them. I would rather prove them wrong because whether you like Punk or not it does help change the attitude of the business for the better. It means people aren't slaves to WWE... employee's aren't slaves.

If people are chanting for somebody who's not in the ring then that's who they want to see, not the guy in the ring... you can't tell people how to feel. Regardless of it's a question of who's over or if the fans are just mad, WWE is the one who built the company that way & they can get over it... people don't want Roman Reigns, they want CM Punk.

Cry about it more HHH why don't ya lol ....& while you're at it go try to tell The Rock he can't call CM Punk on the phone during RAW again.... I'm not going to back HHH, McMahon & WWE when they are WAY bigger children then the children they're complaining about.

Well of course it is their right to chant it. Freedom of speech and all (and buying the ticket). No one can say they shouldn't do it based on that...

They shouldn't do it based on the wrestlers they DO support because that is disrespectful to them. I just have a feeling that no matter what anyone says, it will continue until the next "trendy thing" to shout is relevant. Moe is right that they basically asked the crowd to do these kinds of things since like the late 90's. When they changed the rating and stopped the attitude era, there were still plenty of fans who weren't going to stop watching and enjoying the show the way they were for many years.

I find it annoying just because he isn't relevant in WWE anymore and never will be again. It makes the crowds look stupid when they do this and likely confuses newer fans BUT as mentioned, it is their right to shout it, if they want. I think this is beyond CM Punk though at this point. Maybe not in Chicago, but everywhere else it happens. It is the fan's way of saying "F**K YOU, WWE!" on TV and I bet there are people that buy tickets just to shout this at the shows.

I would not say that Punk has a Austin level fanbase. If he had people would actually care what he was up to outside of wrestling.

The guys "MMA career" barely gets any coverage.

His name has become a way for people to show their disinterest without properly laying out why they are disinterested.

Basically it's like a child crying before they figure out how to speak. They know something is wrong/that they don't like something. But they cannot vocalize and formulate it properly.

If you didn't watch it -
He explains that chanting CM Punk, while funny in certain scenarios (like in Chicago), most of the time it is just annoying to the people watching who know he is not relevant in WWE anymore.

He's clearly relevant in some way if people are still chanting his name.

His ring name is relevant because people are using his name to basically tell WWE they aren't happy. I know more people than not that don't care if he comes back.

As I said, he isn't coming back. If he decides to wrestle again it will likely be somewhere like Japan.
