Well you said in your beginning quote that Smackdown has always been PG. Smackdown was more than watchable a while back, so it isn't the rating that is restricting them from good programming.

Exactly. It's just plain laziness and lack of creativity from "creative".

I've seen people begging for a return of TV-14 programming so I'm asking why do people hate PG so much?

The description of the rating, read this if you're just after abit of swearing :

This rating signifies that the program may be unsuitable for children under the age of 9 without the guidance and monitoring of a parent. Many parents may want to watch it with their younger children. Various game shows and most reality television shows are rated TV-PG for their suggestive dialogue, suggestive humor, and/or coarse language. Some anime programs are given this rating, as are many prime-time series. Prime-time Cartoon Network series and all World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) programs (including those aired on pay-per-view) after 2008 were changed to TV-PG (save for SmackDown, it bore a TV-PG rating since its inception in 1999). Sometimes on occasion, an R-rated film in heavily edited form, depending on its overall content, may warrant a TV-PG rating.

SMACKDOWN WAS NOT PG IT WAS TV 14! DO I HAVE TO SHOULD PROVE THIS TO? BUT ANYWAY I HATE PG B/C NO BLOOD,NO CLASED, CHAIR SHOT and most inportly NOT VOLIAEDLY! :austin: STONE COLD WOULD NOT BE HAPPY NOW!

Blaming a lackluster product on the PG rating is mostly unfounded, in my opinion. You can still have great characters and personalities and promos and feuds and matches and all that good stuff with a PG rating.

The vibe that I am getting is that people don't miss TV-14, but instead Stone Cold, Brock, Benoit, Rock, ect. WWE is able to do a lot with the PG rating in all honesty. Most everything on the mic is fair game as we've seen recently, with the exception of a few words such as sh*t and f*ck. The new ECW used weapons galore throughout its run, and it was PG. There is no shortage of controversy. There have actually been more shoots and worked shoots lately than clean promos.

All that is missing is blood and former icons. As you can see from matches like Punk v. Cena at MiTB and HBK/HHH v. Undertaker at WM, you don't need blood to tell an amazing story. Many people need to realize that these beloved names aren't coming back and times are going to change. Everyone, including myself, marks at the idea of these earlier stars, I think we are naturally going to want back what got us hooked in the first place.

I don't need chairshots for my entertainment. I don't need blood either. All I ever want from the WWE are good storylines and no laziness from the Creative of WWE. I mean they bullshit around doing nothing good and then to make it even worse Vince just fucks the show up. So does HHH. IMO, People hate PG because they feel like they are watching a show that is classified by the rating making them feel like little kiddies.
