Last year, Jack Swagger and Sheamus were two men breaking into the main event. Swagger won Money in the Bank and subsequently, the World Heavyweight Championship not long after. Sheamus had two stints as a champion and looked to be really stepping into the main event.

A year on, and Sheamus is putting over Mark Henry on Raw. Jack Swagger is languishing in mid card mediocrity. It just goes to show that even the ones who seem to be getting a real push can lose it all easily.

With that being said, who's next to make the jump to being a champion? Wade Barrett? Dolph Ziggler? Del Rio? Do these men really have a future in the main event? Or will they end up like Jack Swagger? Moreover, who has the most promising future?

WWE seem to have a method when they push someone to the mainevent and they win the title for the first time. Whilst champion they have to look weak and can't be too dominant plus when they lose the title they must then drop back down the card rather than remaining in the mainevent. A great example of this is CM Punk, his title win was a fluke, he never had clean wins and he didn't even get to lose the title. Then he dropped back down the card for around a year before coming back to the mainevent.

Sheamus and Jack Swagger are lucky because they still have plenty of time on their hands. They will eventually be back in the mainevent but most it will be in the middle of the year rather than the most important time in the business.

All three that you listed will become WWE/World champions they have what it takes to mainevent a brand and all will eventually get their time especially when names like Kane, Edge, Show etc. retire. Alberto Del Rio will be the first of those to get that title win since it will most likely happen at WM or at Backlash.

As for who has the most promising future that is very difficult to say since they could all have long careers in WWE. If I had to pick one I would go with Sheamus, I think that when they eventually decide to he could play face very well and he would easily be able to get the fans on his side.

CM Punk will be a God.
Alberto Del Rio really has the potential to take Mysterios spot once he leaves. WWE needs a Mexican main eventer for some reason, and as long as Del Rio doesn't screw up he could move right into that position. But with Mistico coming in and probably wearing a mask, Del Rio could be screwed.

I think even with Mysterio around, Del Rio can make a huge name for himself and become a world champion, and not fall into the hole that Sheamus and Swagger did. His mic skills are phenonmenal, he's playing his gimmick well, and many feuds can be put together using him.

Another one is Mistico. This is where I see him shining when Mysterio goes. Once him and Del Rio are the two main Latin American Wrestlers in the WWE, I can see them putting on a feud of their own. Or Mistico playing the face Latin American and Del Rio playing the heel one.
