Whitney Houston passes away

Publicist Kristen Foster said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unclear.


At her peak in the 1980s and '90s, Houston the golden girl of the music industry and one of the world's best-selling artists.


Among her hits were "How Will I Know," "Saving All My Love for You" and "I Will Always Love You." She won multiple Grammys including album and record of the year.


Her success carried her beyond music to movies like "The Bodyguard."


But by the end of her career, drug use took its toll as her record sales plummeted and her voice became raspy and hoarse.

I'm sittin here watchin Saw IV, decent at best, and I go to Yahoo homepage and at the top breaking news Whitney Houston passed away. I stop my movie and check the news channels and mannnn... wow.

I wouldn't consider myself a "fan" but I do like her music. She was amazingly gifted and extremely talented. Drugs got a hold of her and really screwed her up but she really started to turn things around for herself.

But mannn... she was a legend in the music business.

I wonder if Sparkle will still be released as she played 'Emma' as the main character in the movie that was supposed to release later this year.

She was absolutely talented and did a lot in her career, such a sad day in the music industry.
