The picture obviously means the change ahead is for WWE since he's not going to be there for 4-6 months. The ratings will drop and he'll be like "see, told you I was the main draw."

Not going to bother getting into the heel argument, I doubt it will ever happen and tbh, I wouldn't care for it.

Do you like his babyface character?

He's not even really a face though, he's only that to young fans and people who want to cheer him that way. To the rest of the crowd that boo him, the character is very similar to what Bo Dallas is doing over on NXT, save that Cena actually acknowledges that some don't like him. That "you can cheer or boo me idgaf" is heelish behaviour for a babyface, since he's not worried about appeasing everyone like a true one would be.

But the way he acts besides saying "I don't care if you cheer or boo" is totally babyfaceish. He didnt even cash in MITB on a downed opponent, you can't get anymore babyface than that.

Eh, with Cena everyone sees what they want to see. That's the beauty of the character, its not as clearly defined as others. Sure he was the ultimate face with the MitB briefcase, but he also displayed heelish tactics in using a chain to beat Brock Lesnar.

But Brock was the heel in that feud and it was an extreme rules match

So what? A lot of guys have fought in ER matches and haven't used a chain. Not to mention, when the face uses a weapon, its almost always because the heel brought it into the match first and had it backfire on them. Cena purposely hit Brock in the head with that chain and it hadn't been seen previously. That's not very babyface of him is it?

The fuck? if you're getting the ever living fuck beat out of you and you're about to lose, there's nothing hellish about bringing a chain into the match.

Yeah, that's the way you see it, and I see it as Cena realizing he was going to lose and taking the HEEL approach by using a weapon to win.

So he should have just laid there getting beat?

Sure. How awesome would Brock have ended up looking if he'd literally beat the company's top draw into submission? Not to mention, how big of a hero would Cena have looked if he'd refused to give in to evil tactics and lost like a man? Both guys would have come out looking amazing and Cena would be the true babyface who never backed down or took a shortcut to win but rather took everything and came up just a bit short. There would have been no shame in losing to Brock at that point and hey, he would have been that ULTRA FACE that you say he is by doing so.

Instead he resorted to saving his own skin by hitting a guy with a chain. Real heroic.

I do agree that Brock should have won but i still don't care that he used a chain. But besides, that's only one occasion it doesn't make up for the trillion other babyface things hes done.

It's the same shit Hogan used to do...Hogan was super heelish in his actions and promos but was still the babyface of the company...

He's also been doing heelish stuff for a long time too. If he was such a great and wonderful hero he wouldn't have spent nearly a half hour humiliating and BULLYING Johnny Ace in their "match". He would have just beaten him in 4 seconds and left. This is very similar to when Austin (a face with heelish tendencies) refused to simply walk out of the cage during his match with Mr. McMahon at St. Valentines Day Massacre. He wanted to keep beating on him and make him suffer even more, which is something a true hero wouldn't do.

How about when he made out with Zack Ryder's girlfriend right in front of him? Are you telling me John Cena couldn't have refused her advances like a TRUE HERO would have? Not to mention basically leaving his "buddy" alone in a room where he knew he'd be vulnerable to an attack from Kane.

Anyhow, the whole thing with Cena is that you see what you want to see with the character. If you perceive him as an ultra babyface then that's fine with me because that's what YOU see. I on the other hand see him as a guy who will do whatever it takes to win, will deride and insult his opponents at a moment's notice, will blindly ignore the true feelings of fans because he just doesn't give a shit what they really think and who acts like a bully from time to time.

From my perspective, can you see how I'd think he wasn't a true babyface like a Tito Santana or Ricky Steamboat was?
