Believe it or not Rob Van Dam is still signed to TNA. His last appearance was at Genesis on the 8th of January where he lost to Gunner and was then stretchered out of the arena after being DDT'd on the concrete floor. The fact that he is healthy yet hasn't appeared on TNA programming for two months baffles me.
RVD has always been a crowd favourite in every promotion that he has been in. In ECW he was the star, when he came to WWE he was easily the most supported of the Alliance and when he joined TNA he was massively over. This is a guy that fans love to watch and cheer and a guy that has been a big star for the last decade. WWE regularly had him around the mainevent and he was destined to be a long term champion until he had that incident where he was arrested. Later when he joined TNA he was paraded as a massive signing because he is so popular, very soon after debuting he won the TNA world title and was in the mainevent but soon after that something went wrong.
I don't know why but TNA have completely dropped the ball on RVD. He means less now than he ever did in his entire career. It should have been a breeze booking RVD because all you need to do is keep him around the mainevent and people will be happy. He is always a threat to the champion but you don't necessarily have to keep the title on him. The fact that TNA used him as a midcarder was a joke and I am amazed at how badly they have used him.
What would you do with RVD if you were TNA?
Or to look at the other side what would you do if you were RVD? I am not sure when his contract expires but would you really want to sign on again after the way they have used him? Would he be able to get a decent offer from WWE?
