MMA Weekly said:
The West Virginia legislature passed a bill that would see MMA finally sanctioned in the state, which leaves only New York, Vermont and Connecticut left as states without legal MMA (Alaska and Wyoming don’t have regulatory bodies to oversee the sport).

“We’ve worked hard to get this sport regulated all over the world, particularly in the United States,†UFC President Dana White said. “I’m really excited to see the sport regulated in West Virginia and look forward to one day bringing a UFC event there.â€

MMA is actually a popular sport in West Virginia, and neighboring states like Ohio and Pennsylvania have adopted MMA as a growing entity throughout their areas.

Former WEC champion Brian Bowles was originally born in Charleston, WV and looks forward to the day he could return home and fight in front of his home state fans.

“All of my friends and family in West Virginia always ask when they’re going to get to see me fight in my home state,†Bowles said. “Now that the sport is regulated there, I am excited to know that I could one day compete in the Octagon in West Virginia.â€

The UFC has held several events in and around the state, and West Virginia may end up with an event there at some point in the near future.

Great news that MMA is regulated in another state. The big one still hasn't lifted the ban and the one that UFC really wants is New York. Hopefully in time that will happen.

Heard Vince is pulling some strings to keep it blocked from Connecticut, but take that rumour with a grain of salt, since they don't deal with athletic commissions at all.

It's only a matter of time before these politician morons get their heads out of their asses on this issue, but it's not as important as balancing their budget while cutting taxes, or whatever the fuck kind of fairy tale they are using for talking points these days.

I'm sure we'll see a fight on Versus or a Fight Night there by the end of the year.

Anyways, I personally think Jon Jones going on Jay Leno increases the chances of New York being regulated, since he's from New York and has a great personality as a fighter.

Wish Jones didn't play a total tool on Leno, but atleast he's a better representative than Kimbo Slice, since thats what mainstream America believes are the guys who are cage fighters.

Jon Jones is a great way to get fans to realize that fighters are not meatheads in my opinion. Well this is good news, Virginia will get a solid fight card on there in the near future that is for sure.

What was he like on Leno deezy? He seemed pretty humble in his post fight interview so I had expected him to be a good figure head for UFC and MMA in general.

He tried too hard to come off as funny and it just ruined the mistique. Too much banter with Kirstie Alley and he changed up the story of him fighting crime. He really needed to promote the brand more than he did, buit atleast he didn't come off as a dumbass like Rampage did when he was on there.
