Vince is a particular man and once he gets a particular perspective on you it never really goes away and with Vince once he saw how much more popular Sable was than him basically thought Mero was nothing or nobody, and I don’t think that was ever gonna change regardless of his injury, unfortunately.

I mean it also didn't help the guy who had the book by the time Sable got big was a fucking idiot goof who had a million horrible ideas and occasionally one decent idea that could be turned into a good one

Eh, even then Starrcade 97 was kind of a bad show even in spite of the numbers it did

I wouldn’t argue against that. But also three of their matches had to be changed the week of.

That being said the first like four pay-per-views for 98 all had significantly better cards.

Like revisit the card for the very next month souled out 98 and it feels like a wrestlemania worthy card. It makes the December Starrcade almost look like a B show lol

You and I will never agree on Russo so I’m not gonna try to change your opinion on this but the one thing Russo actually did well and I will die on that hill is he found an idea for absolutely everybody and there isn’t a period ever where there was more characters getting a storyline but if his direct boss didn’t hate Marc Mero so much Russo would’ve found something from him to do.

The TV title in 1995 looks seriously polished. It just bothers me so much that they never fix those fake WCW logos on it.

That's the one thing I always give Russo credit for definitely. Made sure everyone got on tv doing something.

To go back to my original point though I think his career would have faired so much better if he stayed in WCW. They clearly liked him and the fact that he’s getting such a strong push in 1995 before he leaves I think he would’ve eventually been elevated to at least the United States championship level if not higher by 97.

This is fair. Russo was a solid idea guy, as long as you had someone with a brain and common sense with the final say.

I also agree with this. This is the reason why the only time I don’t defend Russo is in WCW because I think they made a mistake by having Russo in charge. Bischoff should’ve remained as the president and Russo should’ve had to report to his ideas and I actually think he would’ve helped WCW. But that didn’t happen, unfortunately.

Bubba should have been better used, sad.

He’s an example of someone that goes into the WWF and actually does better. It’s weird that he still had something to give WCW can’t figure it out.

I also think joining the nWo would’ve worked for Bubba if they had come up with the whole SWAT character that he eventually does in 98 for the WWF because if he had put on the swat gear and been like Eric Bischoff‘s bodyguard that would’ve been killer.
