Charlotte vs. Bayley
This starts off really well with both women battling for arm positioning, but it doesn't really escalate further. Charlotte takes over working the head but I guess it all gets cut out due to the break cause as we return Bayley is now selling her knee and Charlotte keep going for the figure four. Bayley's comeback is decent but they keep telegraphing the next spot or blatantly get caught waiting for the next sequence which hurts this a bit. Bayley to Belly is kicked out of, but Charlotte tries the super Natural Selection, but Bayley counters into the super Bayley to Belly off the top for the win. **3/4
Earlier in the week, Michael Cole say down with Kevin Owens. Cole asks him about the contract signing, he tries to grill him if his apology to Regal was "heartfelt" Owens asks if he's questioning his sincerity and he doesn't like that. Cole tells him about what Regal said and Kevin says he heard that and he's happy he's bringing that up. Kudos for Regal for waiting until he left to say that. Takes a real man's man to say something like that. Kevin says he's supposed to be a figure of authority, so for him to openly say that about their biggest main event ever, it's a big issue for him. He needs the NXT Title. First, as a reminder of what he did to Sami Zayn, but a title means more money that he's been lacking the last month. He doesn't like NOT having a title either. He can respect who Regal was in the ring, doing whatever he needed to do, but who's to say he won't throw a crooked ref in there with him and Balor in Brooklyn? So there's one way for him to guarantee that it won't happen, and he wants a ladder match! Cole asks if he can beat "The Demon" So, Owens takes off his mic and leaves.
Steve Cutler vs. Baron Corbin
SQUASH!
In GM Regal's office, Bayley tells Regal she's been on a role and asks for a title match. Regal says she deserves one, but she's not the only one who does. So next week, she'll face Becky Lynch for the #1 Contendership, and the winner gets Sasha Banks at Takeover.
Aaron Solow vs. Tyler Breeze
SQUASH!
William Regal comes out and says he's scoured the Earth to find an opponent worthy of him. His opponent on the 22nd of August in Brooklyn will be JUSHIN "THUNDER" LIGER.
Another Apollo Crews vignette airs, which is hilarious cause they haven't been played in like 2 months. Dude's a bust before the debut
Earlier in the week, Byron Saxton say down with Finn. Saxton asks how it feels to be champion, Finn says it's been an emotional year in NXT and they all believe that they're redefining what this industry is, and to be champion is a huge honor. Saxton brings up the contract signing, Finn says they started off as friends a year ago when they came in but something changed and he has no respect for him or anyone, so it doesn't surprise me he struck Regal. Finn says he's a man of action instead of words and Owens is the opposite. Saxton brings up Owens injuring Sami, and Finn says he spoke to Sami and knows their history, and Sami told him not to underestimate him DUH! Saxton then brings up Owens wanting a Ladder match, Finn says Tokyo wasn't a fluke and the outcome will not be any different.
Dash & Dawson vs. The Hype Bros.
Dawson bumps well for the Bros to start, but Dash distracts Ryder as he's doing the corner punches allowing Dawson to escape and hang his knee up in the ropes to take over. Lots of awesome striking and just ripping away at the face by Dawson in his he really carries this, MoJo's hot tag is meh and he beats Dash with Hype Ryder double team. UGH! **1/4
After the match; My kids attacks these losers, they drop Ryder with Shatter Machine.
Regal is with the VV in his office, he gives them a rematch at Brooklyn and says as a word to the wise, he would think of some way of curtailing Alexa Bliss.
Samoa Joe vs. Rhyno
They start it slowly with the standard WWE big man vs big man stuff, so neither guy wants to make a mistake before moving into the shoulder block stuff. They pretty much go back and forth trading strikes and moves, with no real story until it's time to go home. Joe avoids the Gore and ends it with the Muscle Buster. Not good. *1/2
