Vince to appear on Raw Monday

WWE.com has learned that Mr. McMahon will be at Monday’s Raw in Sacramento, Calif., to deliver a State of WWE Address.

What will The Chairman have to say? Will he address the performance of Raw General Manager AJ Lee? Could her job be in jeopardy?

In addition to addressing the current state of affairs within WWE, does Mr. McMahon have anything to say regarding its future? Could The Chairman have a message directly from WWE's Board of Directors?

The entire WWE Universe is buzzing about this surprise appearance. Tune in Monday at 8/7 CT on USA Network to find out what Mr. McMahon has to say.

Ratings have been down significantly, and lol @ Vince thinking he will fix it by one appearance.

If that is his reason for showing it up it always fixes it for one show and then goes back to what it was doing. Short fixes don't fix shit long term. Regardless curious as to what he will do.

It's fair to say that Vince McMahon is returning due to the recent ratings that RAW has been getting. I think he realises that something has to change and fast in order to stop the slump from continuing. It appears that this whole CM Punk anti-WWE thing has gone off the boil. Punk has lost the interest that fans invested in him last year and his character has become stale. When you have a WWE Champion who is meant to be your top guy and they can't keep the ratings steady you know you have a problem.

Not usually into all this rating stuff but hope you realize Punk's segments and matches lately have been the only thing gaining ratings for the show. The issue is more so this 3 hour Raw is draining people which I knew would happen because it happened to WCW. Not everyone can sit through a entire 3 hour Raw week after week.

If your addressing CM Punk's turn as a ratings killer, you can also blame the other top guys constant face value as a reason as well.

Do you guys know why ratings were so high when McMahon was a constant character back in the late 90's? Edgy T.V. He had a wide array of enemies and allies, it was never done before, his rivalries and alliances were so top notch, so interesting and unprecedented that no one knew what to expect. Not to mention the people he was working with were, without a doubt, the hottest things in wrestling, period. Now when you tune in and see the same guy come out every Monday night doing the same thing for about eight years, consistently doing the same thing while the product continually declined into a state of mundane predictability, and other guys randomly being pushed and then the ball being dropped, or guys turning heel when they don't need to or guys turning face when they don't need to, its no wonder the ratings slip.

Vince will bring a spike of interest just because he is Vince McMahon, if he wants the ratings to be up above 3.1 or whatever it is RAW gets a maximum of these days, he needs to take a step back and evaluate the direction of his company, the position of his superstars.

I don't know if this is true, but I think if Cena were to have turned heel over Punk in a fashion that could have been booked as Cena "losing" to Punk and becoming fed up that he isnt the best anymore, I think its plausible to say interest and ratings could go up. I would be on board to tune in and see what a heel Cena can do, but instead they force a Punk movement and make him heel while Cena still plays the same old.

Maybe Vince figures that Austin's heel turn was more detrimental in the long run then it was for the short term, that it would happen to Cena. Who knows, but ratings slip because the product has slipped, no other excuses thats the truth right there. Nothing can be done unless they really want it to be done, and judging by WWE's outside interests, I.E Linda, Anti-bullying, complete contradiction in execution. Not blaming the WWE PG or allegiances and interests it has outside, but it has its hand in it.

They need to step the game up if they want ratings to go up. I'd take a half hour show of RAW if it was interesting and captivating over a 3 hour show thats ridiculous and predictable week in, week out

You have a point about Austin's heel turn being a terrible thing in the long run and Cena's non-committal to the darkside is a result of it.

Can't really expect your breadwinner to automatically tell the people who buy his shit more than they buy for anyone else that they can basically go fuck themselves, that would be shooting yourself in the foot while you jump off a cliff.

Bret Harts similiar situation in 97, he had the best run of his career, but he alienated an entire country, which in turn made it hard for him to capitalize on being screwed by WWF in WCW.

I honestly think Cena's heel turn would be more on the Hogan turning heel side than the Austin turning heel side as Cena is very similar to how Hogan was before he turned heel pretty much being a stale character for a long period of time and the thought of them turning heel didn't seem possible. With Austin some people weren't tired of Austin as a face yet and didn't turn on him. In Cena's case people started already turning on him a year into his big push and similar to Hogan has pretty much done all there is to do as a face. Think they've missed two big chances to turn Cena and do wonders for the product which was the idea you brought up and also the chance he had to do it at mania against Rock.

The thing about Cena is that his heel turn wouldn't do business like Hogan, because in alot of markets the places where the crowd that hate him would just go the other way and cheer for him, and he would still be in the same place. Minus the mommy's and kiddies who buy his merch.

Wouldn't do the same amount of business but it would definitely be one of the biggest things they've ever done. Most of WWE's success and growth has always came from taking chances and at some point him turning is the chance they are gonna have to take. There is nothing more he can do in the position he is in as they've gotten the most out of him that they can get.

I think even from a "storyline" or "in character" thing, a guy like Cena can't turn heel. The guy had his Dad punt kicked, he's lost some big matches, took a nasty powerbomb and needed neck surgery, etc etc. And if him losing to The Rock at mania didn't make him flip out and turn, then honestly his feud with Punk won't do it at all.

With that said, we've had heel turns and new feuds for much, much less. But I still doubt Cena turns heel in any near future. Just my two cents
