A light-heavyweight bout between former champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (32-10 MMA, 7-4 UFC) and recent promotional newcomer Glover Teixeira (18-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has been added to UFC 153 in Brazil.

UFC officials today passed along a report from Globo about the matchup.

As MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) first reported, UFC 153 is expected to take place Oct. 13 at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

The night's main card is expected to air on pay-per-view, and Jackson vs. Teixeira would be part of the broadcast, likely as a headliner or co-headliner.

Jackson, who likely will enter the octagon for the final time after a well-documented clashes with UFC officials, fights for the first time since back-to-back losses to then-champion Jon Jones (in a title fight) and Ryan Bader at UFC 135 and UFC 144, respectively. Prior to the setbacks, "Rampage" was on a 4-1 run with included victories over the likes of Wanderlei Silva, Lyoto Machida and Matt Hamill.

Teixeira, who will fight in his home country, recently made a long-awaited UFC debut and submitted Kyle Kingsbury in less than two minutes at UFC 146. It marked the former WEC fighter's 16th consecutive victory over the past six years. Fifteen of the 16 wins have come via stoppage, including 13 in the first round.

As UFC president Dana White told MMAjunkie.com this past month, he hoped to match Teixeira with Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. However, the ex-champ said he made the decisionbecause Teixeira is still largely unknown on MMA's biggest stage.

Rampage's last UFC fight, he's going to get messed up in this fight Glover Teixeria is no joke. This could be FOTN also depending on what the main event of this show ends up being, but i see this as an awesome stand up battle.

Thing is, Rampage has been a little girl about the UFC for a while now so i bet he comes into this fight overweight and unprepared. So i probably shouldn't get my hopes up on this fight actually being anything special.

Rampage has been done for a long time.

Stick this on the prelims and give the Brazillian his win bonus in advance.

Agreed.

Rampage will phone this in and bitch about it later on Twitter.

Page has been begging the UFC for a fight where he can stand and bang, he'll get it here, but he'll also get KTFO. This is his last UFC fight, so i'm sort of curious though to see if he ends up in Bellator, seeing as they're heading over to Spike TV in a little bit and they've been picking up everybody released by Zuffa.

Rampage still got it. He fought injured against Bader and made it worse during the fight.

I've always be a fan of Rampage. From Pride to now.

Page has just been making a fool of himself to the point that I just want to see him get KTFO! I mean I used to stick up for him... specially before the Bader fight but... Page has become such a little pansy that I just want to see him get beat. Put it on the main card so everyone can see it happen.

I gave up on Rampage a long time ago also, I'm still a fan of all the work he did for PRIDE but the last few fights he just looks old and unmotivated to do anything.

Him Coaching The Ultimate Fighter with Evans was entertaining as hell also

Like I said he was injured in his fight against Bader, and got messed up on the slam.

The Jon Jones fight wasn't really a fair assessment especially since Jones has a major reach advantage.

I was at the bar that fight and its hard to do anything against a guy who can avoid you by just putting his hand out. You can't get close without getting tagged for anything.

Machida got a few good shots in :p

But yeah... I dunno... Rampage has just tarnished himself with his antics lately. So... I dunno... I just can't get behind him anymore. He can still throw punches but... he just looks like a shell of himself.

Yea then Machida got choked out against the cage by Rochester's own :D

I understand that, I mean I don't see Rampage going to Belator though.

Rampage fell off after his whole rivalry with Evans. I mean, he had a few good wins after that, but that's the last time he was really getting a lot of attention. He's got all the ability and is just lazy. It's really a shame especially when you look at who he's fought and beaten and how well he's stood up against some of the most elite fighters.

And I agree about Jon Jones. Rampage lasted 4 rounds, so you have to at least give him credit. I mean, you look at how skilled Jones is and combine that with his reach and it's like no contest. You try anything and you get hit with a crushing blow.
