See Aldo dropping here, Mendez is still fresh, but if you've seen some of his WEC matches he's got a pretty well rounded game, and I think he's a better fighter than Homminick who almost got the win over Aldo his last match.

Haven't seen much of Mendes so I don't know much about him but his record is very impressive. Looking at both records and this will probably go the full five rounds.

Looking forward to Belfort getting back on track in the middleweight division. He was so dominant before and it was only Silva that could stop him. He finished off Akiyama with no trouble and I think he will finish Johnson early here as well.

Mendez can push Aldo to his limits, think he can own him on the ground, and that's prob the best way for him to win the fight, think if he stands with him he ends up like this:

The six-bout preliminary card for next month's UFC 142 event in Brazil will air on FX.

Officials today confirmed the broadcast with MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com). MMAFighting.com first reported the plans on Tuesday.

UFC 142 takes place Jan. 14 at Rio de Janeiro's HSBC Arena. The main card, including a featherweight championship headliner between Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes, airs on pay-per-view.

The event is the UFC's first pay-per-view event of 2012. It marks the move of the UFC's preliminary-card fights from Facebook and Spike TV to the UFC-owned FX and FUEL TV. (The UFC and FOX kick off a landmark seven-year deal in January.)

BJJ black belt from Ataide Junior and one of the athletes who was most chanted at in UFC Rio, when he entered the cage with the theme song of the movie “Tropa de Elite”, the cop Paulo Thiago is the first one to be cut off “UFC Rio 2”. According to what reliable sources revealed firsthand to TATAME, the fighter wrenched his elbow during Wrestling trainings at his gym Constrictor Team, in Brasilia, and won’t be able to fight Mike Pyle at UFC 142.

“The kid has seriously injured his elbow. Paulo Thiago already had a bad elbow. He tried to defend himself from a takedown, but he wrenched his elbow when tried to rest his arm on the floor. Yesterday (Thursday), he went to the doctor and he was waiting for the tests’ results to know how serious it really was”, affirmed Ataide Junior, on an interview with TATAME.

“He was so disappointed to have to leave UFC Rio. He couldn’t say a word. He’s desolated”

Siyar Bahadurzada's loss is WEC veteran Carlo Prater's gain.

After announcing Bahadurzada (20-4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) scratched due to an injury, UFC officials today announced Prater (29-10-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) as his replacement.

He now meets fellow welterweight Erick Silva (13-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) at next month's UFC 142 event in Brazil.

UFC 142 takes place Jan. 14 at Rio de Janeiro's HSBC Arena. The night's main card, including Silva vs. Prater, airs on pay-per-view. The prelims air on FX.

Prater, who suffered losses to champ Carlos Condit and Brock Larson in his two WEC appearances, has experienced a career resurgence since a career-worst 1-4 skid. Recently, he competed for organizations such as Strikeforce and Legacy Fighting Championships and now owns a four-fight win streak.

The submission specialist, who posted all of the victories in 2011, picked up wins over notables such as Bryan Travers and Cameron Dollar during the streak.

Silva carries a nine-fight win streak into the bout. The Brazilian slugger made his octagon debut at UFC 134, which also took place in Rio de Janiero, where he scored a 40-second stoppage of Luis Ramos. Silva appeared to be in line for the night's "Knockout of the Night" bonus before his teammate Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira stopped Brendan Schaub later that evening.

Prater vs. Silva is one of two all-Brazilian matchups on the card.

Two main card fight's changed already due to injury. no good :side:

Welterweight Ricardo Funch (8-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) is returning to the UFC as an injury replacement at next month's UFC 142 event in Brazil.

Funch has replaced injured Paulo Thiago (14-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) and now meets Mike Pyle (21-8-1 MMA, 4-3 UFC), UFC officials today announced.

Featuring a featherweight title fight between current champion Jose Aldo and undefeated contender Chad Mendes, UFC 142 takes place Jan. 14 at Rio de Janeiro's HSBC Arena.

UFC 142's main card airs on pay-per-view, and the prelims, including Pyle vs. Funch, air on FX.

Funch, a Brazilian now based out of Massachusetts, joined the UFC in 2009 as an undefeated prospect. However, following a decision loss to Johny Hendricks a submission defeat to Claude Patrick, UFC officials cut ties with the fighter in 2010.

After an 18-month layoff from competition following the release, "Golden Boy" fought at a Dec. 3 Premier FC event in Massachusetts. There, Funch scored a unanimous-decision victory over Bellator veteran Ryan Quinn (6-2-1 at the time).

Pyle returns to action after a disappointing setback to red-hot prospect Rory MacDonald at UFC 133, which snapped a three-fight win streak. Those previous triumphs included Jesse Lennox, John Hathaway and Ricardo Almeida that had the IFL/Strikeforce/WEC vet close to title contention.

Twice fired UFC heavyweight Tim Hague is determined to get back to the Octagon, but his choice of opponent for his upcoming fight likely won’t garner him another invite to the big show from matchmaker Joe Silva.

Hague (13-5), who spent a week at Brock Lesnar’s Death Clutch gym to help the former UFC heavyweight champion prepare for his UFC 141 fight with Alistair Overeem is slated to take on aging UFC veteran Maurice Smith (12-13) in Brazil on January 14th under the Kumite Combate banner.

For those of us who thought Smith had retired, he pretty much did.

The 51-year-old, who is old enough to be Hague’s dad, hasn’t fought since 2008 when he lost to Hidehiko Yoshida by neck crank a Sengoku 3. That bout was only his third since being dropped by the UFC in 2000 after a loss at UFC 28.

Hague, 28, is 1-0 since being dropped by the UFC this time around with a win over 40-year-old 20-22-1 fighter Vince Lucero who is winless in his last 10 fights. “The Thrashing Machine” is 1-4 in five UFC starts with a win over Pat Barry and losses to Todd Duffee, Chris Tuscherer, Joey Beltran and Matt Mitrione
Crazy.

Recent pic of Rumble Johnson training, if this is what he's going to look like at 185 guy is going to be a force if he can work on his standup. Still think he can beat Belfort though if he wrestles his way to victory.
