Great tagline "It doesn't get any bigger than this" because it is so true. This massive fight is a great way to finish the year.

UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem

200px-Scaled_php.jpg

UFC 141

Official Fight Card

Main Card

Heavyweight bout: Brock Lesnar vs, Alistair Overeem
Lightweight bout: Donald Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz
Light Heavyweight bout: Alexander Gustafsson vs. Vladimir Matyushenko
Welterweight bout: Jon Fitch vs. Johny Hendricks
Welterweight bout: Dong Hyun Kim vs. Sean Pierson
Lightweight bout: Jacob Volkmann vs. TJ Grant
Featherweight bout: Manvel Gamburyan vs. Diego Nunes
Featherweight bout: Junior Assunção vs. Ross Pearson

This is going to be awesome. Was a big fan of Lesnar in WWE and have continued to support him in MMA. Overeem is a beast and dominated Strikeforce so this is going to be a great slugfest. I am biased but I think that Lesnar will win here as I think he has a better allround game.

What do you think of the card?

Not a fan of this card at all.

Overeem vs. Lesnar is the only watchable match here for me.

Cerrone vs. Nate Diaz doesn't scream out for me at all... Might actually give this one a skip. Seeing it's on December 30th and I'll probably be in Sydney then.

This event is still some time away so I am sure that closer to the date some more big matches will be added to the card. For me though I would be happy with only Lesnar vs. Overeem on the card and I will be buying it no matter what the rest of the card is.

The UFC announced today that a welterweight match-up between Matt Riddle and Luis Ramos has been verbally agreed to for the promotion's New Year's Eve weekend show in Vegas.

A cast member on the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter, Matt Riddle began his professional career inside of the UFC and has fought each of his eight professional fights within the promotion's eight chain-link walls. Sporting a record of 5-3, the 25-year-old is currently riding a two-fight losing streak, having dropped unanimous decisions to Sean Pierson and Lance Benoist. He most recently appeared in action against Benoist last

September at UFC Fight Night: Shields vs. Ellenberger. 30-year-old Brazilian Luis Ramos made his UFC debut this past August in his home country, taking on Erick Silva at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro; he was beaten by his countryman via quick first round TKO. Prior to that bout, Ramos had put together a three-fight winning streak. The Nova Uniao-trained fighter sports an overall record of 19-7.

UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem is scheduled to take place on December 30 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight card will be headlined by a blockbuster heavyweight fight between former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and the most recent Strikeforce heavyweight champ, Alistair Overeem.

Card seems pretty much set and it's solid, lot's of guys on the rise on here, and for people like me who like Fitch and his style he's on the card, and Cerrone who is def on the rise at 155 is exciting to watch.

As expected next month's UFC 141 headliner between former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar (5-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and incoming ex-Strikeforce titleholder Alistair Overeem (35-11 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will determine a No. 1 contender.

UFC officials today formally announced the stakes of the five-round non-title fight.

As today's press release stated, "The winner will be crowned the No. 1 contender and earn a title shot in the new year."

UFC 141 takes place Dec. 30 as a rare Friday-night UFC card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view, and prelims will stream on Facebook and air on Spike TV.

The Lesnar-Overeem victor meets the winner of Saturday's UFC on FOX headliner between current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and top contender Junior Dos Santos.

Lesnar hasn't competed since an October 2010 title loss to Velasquez. A second bout with diverticulitis scratched a planned summer contest with fellow "The Ultimate Fighter 13" coach Dos Santos. The former WWE star's inactivity led some MMA pundits to speculate that a retirement announcement was in the works, but White quickly branded the speculation as "ridiculous."

Overeem, of course, was released from Strikeforce in late July following a conflict with UFC and Strikeforce officials regarding his ability to compete in a Sept. 10 bout with Antonio Silva. He ultimately signed with the UFC when the situation was resolved.

Overeem carries a 10-fight win streak going back more than four years. In addition to his title run in Strikeforce, he picked up an interim DREAM heavyweight belt in December 2010 and a K-1 world-grand-prix kickboxing title three weeks prior. Recent victories have come over the likes of Brett Rogers, Todd Duffee and Fabricio Werdum

Right move by UFC. Whoever wins here certainly deserves the title shot and it will set up an incredible title fight. They should also book the loser of this fight against the loser of Velasquez and Dos Santos.

Brock Lesnar will watch the first defence of Cain Velasquez's heavyweight title with interest this weekend, but he insists the UFC champion's reign is a temporary one.

Velasquez takes on Junior Dos Santos in Anaheim, with pre-event adverts labelling Velasquez "the baddest man on the planet".

Lesnar was the man from whom Velasquez won the title, but Brock has since had major surgery as a result of diverticulitis. He took defeat with grace a year ago, but insists he was nowhere near 100 per cent fit.

"For two years I had to lie to myself, and lie to all of my fans. I had to get up every morning and say 'you feel good today', and I didn't," Lesnar told Paul Heyman.

"I had the surgery, it's out of my life, and I'm back. And that's a damn good feeling for me, and it's bad for everyone else."

Primarily it would seem bad news for Alistair Overeem, who takes on Lesnar in his comeback fight at the end of the year.

"I don't have a lot to say to Alistair Overeem," Lesnar said. "Here's a guy that's getting his chance to make a name in the UFC. And unfortunately for him, there's a gatekeeper that stands in his way, and that's Brock Lesnar.

"I will prove on that night that I am, once again, and will always be, the baddest dude on the planet."

I can't wait for this. I want Lesnar back in the Octagon winning and back with the title. I hope Lesnar wins here because it then sets up Lesnar vs. Dos Santos which we didn't get to see after TUF.

I'm still giving the slight edge to Lesnar here in this fight but that is only if Lesnar can get Overeem on the ground and grind it out. He has to grind it out and wear Overeem down cause Overeem could catch him with a submission. People always clamor on and on about his striking cause he is a kickboxing champ and all but he also has 19 submission victories to his credit. 19!

So if the fight is only a 1 rounder... Overeem will win. If it goes beyond that... then Lesnar cause Overeem's cardio has always been in question while Lesnar is a freak athlete that can keep going.

Two of the world's best heavyweight mixed martial artists will meet in the confines of the UFC's Octagon at UFC 141 in December and this week MMAWeekly.com was able to catch up with Alistair Overeem and get his thoughts on his match up with former UFC Heavyweight Champ Brock Lesnar:

"It's going to be a very exciting fight. All the fans in the world will be watching out for this fight…. It's a very interesting match up: You have the best, strongest wrestling guy out there versus the strongest, best striker. I think it's pretty straightforward what he's going to do, and I think it's pretty straight forward what I'm going to do. It's going to be about who is better about forcing their game on the other…. It's not going to go to the second round. I'm going to knock him out in the first round."
