If GSP heals quickly then Condit will still be in contention. Diaz was in line but he blew his chance. So now if Diaz can beat Penn then he should be next in line. But either way Diaz should have to wait til after Condit. BUT if Penn wins, then he'd need one more fight and again that would all depend on GSP.

Basically if GSP has a long healing process then Condit will probably wind up facing the winner of the main event and that'll determine the number 1 contender.

Quite a night. Started off rather boring... then Nelson vs. Cro Cop brought life back to it. Cro Cop retired :( then Kongo vs. Meathead just stunk. That fight sucked bad. Then the main event and man alive BJ took a beating. A bad beating. haven't seen him that beat up before. And as of right now he is retired too.

:(

FB prelims were good, spike tv prelims good, Cro Cop/Nelson good, BJ/Diaz foty candidate. Loved that fight, glad Cro Cop retired, sad BJ did. I understand why BJ did and although he can beat the new guys, he doesn't have much left. Diaz messed him up badly, was impressed with Diaz's TDD in this fight, hopefully it gets better for GSP fight. GSP is/was scared of Diaz, he ain't injured that's bullshit. He got scared that he couldn't come up with gameplan for Condit. Now he got someone just as dangerous, GSP only hope is to win on points and takedown Diaz. For the record i am fan of GSP, he just was scared of Diaz.

Lol 209 baby, Nick Diaz is the man. I love that fuckin' Joe Rogan podcast shoutout too. I love this kid, I think him vs. GSP will be a sick fight but I can still see GSP winning it just because GSP has so many tools and is such a spectacular fighter.

Not really surprised that Diaz won although I was surprised that he didn't finish him. Penn retiring is the right move because I hate seeing it when champion fighters go on too long.

Shame that Cro Cop lost again in UFC. I wanted to see that headkick one last time but it wasn't to be.

This past month's UFC 137 event officially drew a 10,313 attendance figure and a $3,900,650 live gate.

UFC 137 took place Oct. 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas with a Nick Diaz vs. B.J. Penn pay-per-view headliner.

Of the 21 events the UFC has held to date at the Sin City venue, the gate figure ranks third all time.

Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer today emailed the officials figures to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

Of the 10,313 attendees, 8,179 paid for tickets, and 2,134 received complimentary admission. Additionally, 409 tickets went unsold, though UFC officials announced the show as a sellout. That produces an average paid ticket price of $476.91.

In addition to the actual event, Mandalay Bay hosted a closed-circuit feed of UFC 137. The event drew 723 attendees (523 paid) for a gate of $26,150.

The Mandalay Bay Events Center's all-time top UFC gates as compiled by MMAjunkie.com include:

  1. UFC 100 (Lesnar vs. Mir II): $5,128,490 gate (10,871 attendance)
  2. UFC 79 (St-Pierre vs. Hughes III): $4,994,000 (11,075)
  3. UFC 137 (Penn vs. Diaz): $3,900,650 (10,313)
  4. UFC 126 (Silva vs. Belfort): $3,600,000 (10,893)
  5. UFC 57 (Liddell vs. Couture III): $3,382,400 (11,000)
UFC 137 initially was expected to feature a headliner between UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Diaz. However, Diaz was pulled from the card when he no-showed a pair of pre-event press conference, and he ultimately was booked for the event's co-headliner against Penn. But when St-Pierre suffered a knee injury and was forced out of a fight with replacement Carlos Condit, Diaz returned to the main-event slot and scored a unanimous-decision victory. He now meets St-Pierre in a February title fight.
