UFC 137: Penn vs. Diaz
Official Fight Card

Main Card

Welterweight bout: BJ Penn vs. Nick Diaz
Heavyweight bout: Cheick Kongo vs. Matt Mitrione
Heavyweight bout: Mirko Filipović vs. Roy Nelson
Featherweight bout: Hatsu Hioki vs. George Roop

Preliminary Card

Lightweight bout: Dennis Siver vs. Donald Cerrone
Featherweight bout: Tyson Griffin vs. Bart Palaszewski

Middleweight bout: Brad Tavares vs. Tim Credeur
Bantamweight bout: Scott Jorgensen vs. Jeff Curran
Light Heavyweight bout: Brandon Vera vs. Eliot Marshall
Lightweight bout: Ramsey Nijem vs. Danny Downes

Another UFC PPV and another huge mainevent. Diaz is someone who could actually prove a challenge to GSP. GSP's last fight was so disappointing because Shields did nothing and it looked like Shields went out there trying not to win. Diaz will be on the offensive right away and will try to finish GSP. Should be a good fight.

Condit should be too good for Penn who doesn't look the same since he lost the Lightweight title.

Cro Cop's final fight in UFC. Hopefully Nelson doesn't lay on him for the whole fight and hopefully Cro Cop simply comes out there trying to land that high kick to go out on a high.

Every time I think Kongo will be fired he comes out and has a great win. I think that he will be too good for Mitrione here.

What do you think of the card?

Well the word is out. Diaz is out and in place of him will be Carlos Condit.

So what to make of these developments?

Condit is a good fighter, it might not be as high profile as Diaz, but it's still going to be a solid fight. UFC sends the right message here, Diaz no showed to promotional stops for the fight and from the start Dana said he wasn't going to deal with any of his BS. Diaz needs to grow up and he's lucky he didn't get cut all together.

Condit is the better fight than Diaz and I think this will be a tougher fight for GSP than Diaz was. I still think GSP wins though.

Diaz is an idiot. He claimed he wanted to fight the best, Dana White gave him GSP in his first UFC fight and then he screws it up. He is lucky that he hasn't been sacked and that he has even been given another fight. Good to see that UFC are making him work his way up now.

GSP vs. Condit should still be a good fight and I hope that Condit can push GSP to the limit. I want to see GSP have to work hard for the win unlike his previous fight against Shields.

I don't like Penn but I actually want him to win now that he is against Diaz. After what Diaz did I hope Penn submits him.

This card is still solid and Diaz/Penn is a fight that I actually like a lot. Think a win for Penn gets him the next title shot, Diaz might have to earn his stripes though, would love to see him face Fitch next just because there styles are so different.

Condit GSP is really interesting in my opinion. I still think in my mind Nick Diaz is a better match up for GSP but we will see how Diaz fairs with BJ. Do you guys think if BJ wins this fight he will be in line for the title? I mean really who else would GSP face if he defeats Condit? You got Fitch again, and BJ or Diaz winner. Kind of hard to say. Just start getting GSP on a muscle gaining diet and we will be all good and set for Silva vs GSP.

I would expect the winner of Diaz and Penn to get the title shot. Unfortunate for Fitch, especially since I though he had Penn beat in their fight, but he will get his chance after that.

This card looks strong, Penn vs. Diaz should be great. Will be backing up Penn here and I reckon Condit could upset GSP.

This could be very, very interesting.

Well that sucks. I was looking forward to this but I probably won't bother with the PPV anymore. Hopefully GSP isn't out for too long so that this fight doesn't get delayed for too long.

GSP got a knee injury so he is out now. Such a shame to be honest because Condit looked like to have a chance. Oh well Penn vs Diaz is the new main event. Main question is this. Do you think that the winner of Penn and Diaz should get the title shot, or do you think Condit deserves it? I feel Condit deserves it but we will have to wait and see.

That is a tough question. I think that if GSP can heal reasonably quickly that Condit will get his title shot first. If it is a long heal then I think that Condit will be booked in a different fight and the winner of Penn vs. Diaz will get the title shot instead.
