The big one to determine who will face Cain Velasquez for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. It is a tough fight to call since both are top fighters. JDS has a lethal right hand and I wanted to see him go against Velasquez to see who would win the battle of the strikers. Lesnar should be able to control the fight on the ground but it depends on how he handles the stand up.​

Shane Carwin is rumoured to be fighting on this card as well.​

Thoughts on the card and the fights?​

This card looks entertaining. Lesnar and Dos Santos is what everyone is looking at that is for sure. I am excited for that one, and I think if Brock uses his wrestling can get the edge. Danzig and Cerrone though should not be the Co-Main for this card, I rather have Florians 145 debut be the Co then Danzig Cerrone. I am interested to see how Munoz executes his wrestling against someone like Maia. Fight should be entertaining none the less.

This card looks more entertaining then others may think it is. I mean first off we have Donald Cerrone and Mac Danzig. Two guys that always seem to bring it and go out to fight. A bit of step up for Danzig if you ask me but nontheless I have high hopes for that fight. Then Kenflo's debut at Featherweight. This will be more interesting then entertaining if you ask me, to see if Kenflo can make the weight cut and whether it affects him in the fight or not. After that we have something that could be a great grappling match which I've been wanting to see since it was announced. We have Demain Maia vs. Mark Munoz. Munoz has very strong wrestling but Maia has great BJJ and I want to see if Munoz has good sub defense, and whether Maia has great TDD.

Shane Carwin will be fighting Jon Olav Einemo, a new UFC fighter, who is fighting out of Norway. The most interesting thing that I feel is about this fight, is that Einemo fights out of Golden Glory in the Netherlands. Some sick fighters come out of there, like Alistair Overeem, and Marloes Coenon, and I know that Overeem is helping Einemo train for this fight.

Then there's the ME, Brock Lesnar vs. Junior dos Santos. I am a big fan of JDS, but I like to see Brock do well to quiet all the haters. From the Carwin fight and Cain fight, we saw that Brock hates being hit, and both men are heavy hitters, but JDS is a huge hitter, and if he can work his BJJ well, or TDD, he'll win the fight.

Shane Carwin vs. Jon Olav Einemo has been added to the card. This is Einemo's first UFC fight and his current record is 6-1 with his only loss coming to Fabricio Werdum. He hasn't fought for nearly five years so his past history doesn't mean that much. I have never seen Einemo but I think that Carwin will win. His only loss is to Lesnar and he was close to winning that fight. It will be good seeing a fit Carwin finally fighting again. He is a monster and I want to see him fighter the top UFC heavyweights again.

Lesnar vs Dos Santos is a great mainevent and I am not sure who is the favourite. The bookies can't even seperate them.

Due to Brocks striking defence, I would think he would be the underdog. Dos Santos has proven his takedown defense in past fights and thats going to be the story of this fight. Can Brock take JDS down? Can he improve his striking enough to stand with the KO artist?

Rest of the card seems solid, but this card is only about one fight.

Brock Lesnar Out of UFC 131
Another UFC main event bites the dust.

UFC president Dana White announced today that former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has been forced to withdraw from UFC 131′s main event due to a second case of diverticulitis.

Shane Carwin has been tapped as Lesnar’s replacement and will meet Junior Dos Santos.

Lesnar was due to fight Dos Santos at the pay-per-view event, which takes place June 11 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The two serve as opposing coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter 13,” which completed filming this past February and is currently airing.

It’s the second time diverticulitis has derailed Lesnar’s career, though Lesnar said it’s not nearly as serious as his first. In late 2009, he was forced to withdraw from UFC 106 due to an unknown malady that turned out to be a life-threatening case of diverticulitis, a digestive disease of the intestines.

Lesnar was hospitalized for 11 days and lost 40 pounds in his first bout with the disease.

White said Lesnar’s second bout was diagnosed recently at the Mayo Clinic.

“He’s got some serious choices to make in the next couple of weeks whether to fight this thing or to take surgery,” he said.

Lesnar said his second bout with the illness hasn’t been as serious as his first. Surgery could potentially jeopardize his future in the sport.

Lesnar, however, said he’s not retiring from the sport.

“I’ve just got to find the right solution to fix this problem,” he said.

Brocks out, Carwin takes his place, which should bring Dos Santos into the underdog role, but that isn't the case. Although Brock was listed as a heavy favorite as well and it just confirmed that whoever sets the odds are either ignorant to the sport or are just Blue.

This totally changes up JDS' training program and could even result in a potential injury for either party since switching up gameplans and training routines is tricky business.

Sucks that this thing is still haunting Brock.

Carwin is a good replacement though. JDS & Carwin both have dangerous standup, each with knockout power. Carwin's cardio remains a question mark though. I get the feeling he'll have to finish JDS within a round to win the fight. If it goes into the second you've got to see him struggling after the Lesnar fight.

Well this sucks. Sad for Lesnar to have this devastating illness again, if he can come back again then I will be impressed. He needs to think long term though, beyond his fighting career, and maybe he should take the surgery if it is the better long term option.

I really wanted to see that fight but I am happy enough with the replacement. The first round of Carwin vs JDS should be the two of them swinging as hard as they can trying to finish early. Makes it tougher to predict the winner since Carwin has that insane KO power.

A lot of changes to this card at least half a dozen.

Carwin vs. Dos Santos is really the only top fight on the card and that is what will drive the buys. The undercard isn't that strong due to all the shake-ups because of fighters having to pull out of fights.

Cerrone shouldn't be on the maincard, neither should Herman.

Stout and Soszynski should be on the maincard, not just because they are Canadian, mostly because they will have better fights.

So JDS just outclassed Carwin who showed a tremendous chin and dispels any rumours of his lack of cardio. JDS looked like a killer, but seeing as this is his second fight without a finish. MMAfanboy logic should mean he is poverrated and only fights to win.

Florian Nunes was too close to call imo, the judges here namely one guy name Hagee or something seemed to be trained at the Cecil Peoples academy or something.

Omiogawa got robbed and so did Maia.

The Cerrone fight was boring, should've had Stout on the maincard.

I didnt get to see this event but surprisingly they showed the highlights on the sports channel here, UFC is really starting to get thought of as a mainstream sport now.

JDS looked great in the highlights I saw and Carwin showed he had a solid chin. At first I thought that JDS finished it in the first but Carwin somehow held on. Sam Stout's KO was incredible.

Carwin has an insane chin and is crazy durable. And his cardio improved massively... then again he didn't throw like 50 punches in the first round like he did when he was trying to finish Brock.

But Carwin took that first round flurry like a beast... then took that partially blocked head kick like a beast. Carwin just needs to get more technical and more speed. He develops speed in his punches... in the words of Goldberg...

Carwin has heart for sure. JDS just has great speed as a HW and fantastic striking.

Overall I was entertained by that event as fuck. I didn't pay for it but I wouldn't have been angry had I did.
