The National Weather Service in gray Maine has issued a Tornado Warning for: East Central Rockingham County in Southern New Hampshire. This includes the cities of: Portsmouth, Exeter, extreme south central York County in Southwest Maine. This includes the city of Kittery.

  • Until 4:45 pm EDT.
  • At 4:13 pm EDT, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Exeter. Moving east at 30 mph.
  • The Tornado will be near. Greenland and Great Bay National Wildlife Refuge by 4:25 pm EDT. Rye by 4:30 pm EDT. Portsmouth and Kittery by 4:35 pm EDT.
In addition to the tornado, this storm is capable of producing golf ball size hail and destructive straight line winds.

The safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement. Get under a workbench or other piece of sturdy furniture. If no basement is available, seek shelter on the lowest floor of the building in an interior hallway or room such as a closet. Use blankets or pillows to cover your body and always stay away from windows.

If in mobile homes or vehicles, evacuate them and get inside a substantial shelter. If no shelter is available, lie flat in the nearest ditch or other low spot and cover your head with your hands. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 10:00 pm EDT Thursday evening for Southwestern Maine and New Hampshire.
Sounds like an awfully good time to get down. Anyone want to join me for a party?

Stay safe.

This almost made my realise just how many place names in America are taken from the UK.

I'm good. I'm not in the immediate danger zone and I believe it's passed by now.

Stay safe.

This almost made my realise just how many place names in America are taken from the UK.

The original thirteen colonies especially named everything after English, Spanish or French cities. That or they added "New" to it like our state "New Hampshire."
