AEW President Tony Khan is more than willing to work with WWE following the company’s recent partnerships with promotions such as NJPW and Impact Wrestling.
During his recent appearance on the Wrestling Fetish podcast, Khan was asked if “the forbidden door” is open to NXT or WWE.
“They are more than welcome,” said Khan. “As I’ve said before, the forbidden door is open anytime. Just come and knock. If they were to knock on the door, I would certainly be willing to let them in.”
When asked if WWE invading AEW would be similar to DX showing up on WCW Nitro, Khan said, “I don’t think so. Eric [Bischoff] wanted them [WWE] to come inside, so I’m willing to do the same. Come in, please. I would love that. Come to Jacksonville, I’m begging you.”
During the podcast, Khan explained why he takes pride in treating other promotions well.
“The biggest thing in relationships for me is I treat people really well, and I’m very honest with them,” he said. “That’s why people like to work here, whether its AEW or the Jaguars. I do think that sets us apart from other wrestling companies. But in dealing with other companies, I try to treat them the same way as I treat my own [employees].”
As noted, Khan hit back at the criticism he recently received from Konnan, stating that it was “amusing” for the AAA booker and WCW legend to question the way he books AEW shows.

Yeah, as much as I wish it would happen, it’s not ever happening, at least as long as Vince runs things.

Cody mentioned it recently also. But yeah they are just saying it to look cool and probably make WWE the bad guys when it don’t happen.

Khan may be a money mark and one of the biggest geeks in the business but this is a masterful way of making Vince look even more like the evil empire

Tony just cracks me up. I don't think it'll ever happen, and he knows that, but it's fun to posture and stir up some debate.

These guys are delusional. They honestly think they’re bigger and better than they actually are. WWE hasn’t been that good for a while but they’re still levels above this company. Focus on putting on good shows before you get too big for your boots, Tony.

Y'all bothered that he didn't timidly say WWE wouldn't want to do business with them because the difference in their size or should he have just declined to comment? Come on, he's a promoter after all. It's called a fucking work. :lol

It’s desperate. If ROH does this tomorrow does the internet respond the same? No way

He was responding to a question. He didn't hold a fucking a press conference to invite WWE to work with them.

Also AEW and ROH aren't really comparable at this point, but if it was Joe Koff or whoever the hell else is running things there in this sake exact situation, I would be responding the same way.

The way he responded to the question was desperate. He could have said sure, I’d love to work with them, but instead he told them to come knock on the door when if anything AEW should be the one making the phone call to WWE.

AEW and ROH are comparable in the sense that they’re not on WWE’s level.

Is it safe to assume you're someone who has some ingrained resentment towards AEW because of the way portions of their fanbase like to hold them up on a pedestal? Because that's the vibe I'm getting.

He could have answered the question any number of ways but I feel we'd be having the same sort of unproductive conversation filled with hypotheticals no matter what. It was a loaded question. He went the route of trying to stir up a little interest, it seems. When you're a promoter and someone tosses you something like that, I don't see why you don't swing for the fences.

It's an industry that's built on entertainment after all, what's the fun in having a promoter that's tepid in the media?

The resentment I have for AEW has nothing to do with how fans see the product as I simply do not care what others think of the product, instead choosing to focus on what I enjoy myself. The resentment started when the company quickly proved it was full of shit and would prefer to be a comedy company instead of “changing the world” of pro wrestling. But I do like how you attempted to make this into a conversation about myself instead of my words.

We would not be having this conversation if his answer wasn’t a desperate and dishonest plea to drum up interest in his comedy company. If he had simply stated that he would love to work with WWE there wouldn’t be a problem. Unfortunately Khan and AEW have a history of being flat out dishonest and sneaky
