Like that was the entire theme of the 2017 Slammiversary. Was merging the GFW brand into impact and then retiring Impact. It’s all wild to think about now you can go back and watch the pay-per-view and it’s all meaningless only two months later.

The more I look back over the history the more I’m determined that Scott’s fighting for this TNA thing behind the scenes for forever.

2020 he had planned on doing the TNA reunion show. In 2021 he had moose caring around the TNA world championship. In 2022 he did that Slammiversary, where the entire gimmick was honoring TNA legacy and supposedly putting it to rest. And then this year we’re finally bringing it back.

And like I was saying in an earlier post, Scott was finally promoted to the full president of the company in March of this year. And if they were originally planning on doing the reveal at the Slammiversary pay-per-view in June, that means the moment he had the full authority and power to finally make actual decisions for himself. Yeah, that was the Slammiversary I was referring to in the previous post, but the Slammiversary I’m talking about in this post was this year‘s. PW insider got the scoop that they were originally going to announce the rebrand at Slammiversary, but then Scott decided to push it back to Bound For Glory.

Yeah, so if they were going to at one point announce it in June, it seems to me that the moment he got promoted to president of the company was when he finally was able to get some traction in anthem to get a name change approved.

Yeah, that was the strangest thing because they actually did unification matches between all the GFW and Impact titles that had mirrors, and then they retired the GFW lineages, but transferred the GFW title names over to the Impact belts.

That’s what I’m saying. Going back and watching that pay-per-view is so weird because it’s like they spent all that time worrying about the change and properly unifying the two rosters and belts and then two months later it was meaningless.
