WWE really want TNA to become the other promotion because they can control TNA. This is a major full-court press. They just want [Tony Khan] out of the box and they know if the numbers stay good, he’s gonna get a renewal at a much bigger number, just like they did. He’s already very profitable, the number will make him incredibly profitable and they’ll never get away from him or anything like that. So they feel that they need to make sure this is the last contract.

They should combine NXT, TNA and Evolve as the counter programing juggernaut

For all the rancid shit that has happened the last few years especially, I know it feels dumb to ever think that the "bad guys" won't win, but in this case I am actually pretty confident that WWE's greed is only going to bite them in the ass to the effect of galvanizing AEW's fanbase and losing support of people who would rather the company worry more about their own product, than trying to smother out any and all competition. I feel that they can effect AEW's business here and there but as far as trying to damage them to the extent that their next media deal either never comes to fruition or is significantly worse than the current one... I don't see it personally.

Honestly we could almost have a development brand split. I do like the idea of nxt tna evolve and lfg being its own entity to WWE itself.

To me, personally, it doesn't matter. I find AEW to be a better product than TNA. And we live in the age of "you don't have to watch it live". Now, I would guess that the streaming services are counting on people watching the shows live since they can put in more ads, but I am just as content to watch it later if I can't watch it live. I'm not going to subscribe to a new service or maintain an existing service based solely on this. My bigger concern now is what WWE does with its archive. That will play a bigger role in my decisions than what they do with TNA.

And I don't know why, but I have the feeling if they go ahead with it and it fails, the WWE higher ups will blame the TNA office and roster for it.

As to how successful it could be... I guess that will also come down to how politics might effect the media and overall entertainment landscape in the near future. Them going directly against AEW will take some viewers away, obviously, but it's all the fans that need to realize that the E rather wants to sabotage the wrestling industry overall, even it'd mean less people watch Wrestling, just so they can comfortably waddle from one PPV to the next without having to try and having to fear the next generation of fans might grow up learning that their product isn't "what Wrestling should be".

They always set themselves up so that it's a safe failure if it fails. If AEW beats TNA then whatever they should, but big win if they don't. It was the same logic with NXT. And they have the means to do these things where I assume they're smart enough to know they shouldn't move Raw or SmackDown even if it really would siphon off all the viewers, that's just a stupid risk to take when they have much safer options

TNA is basically a puppet for WWE at this point. But legit I don't see many people stopping to watch AEW to watch current TNA

Oh yeah because TNA's attempts to rival other major companies have worked so well in the past...

*Cut back to the guy writing the shows in 2009 and 2010*

I feel fucking horrible for TNA fans being dragged as meat shields to.trynand hurt the competition while WWE continues to strip it's best talent at a discount.

What is even the identity of TNA other than vassal state ?
