- Derrick Bateman, who has sparingly appeared on WWE programming since the conclusion of NXT Season 5 in June, is using social media to promote "THE USA GUY," a character he recently devised. He has released a second vignette style video via YouTube promoting his All-American persona.

My god! Please get this man on television, I'm not even from America and think that this gimmick and Bateman is awesome!

First of all good on him for coming up with a character for himself, for creating vignettes for his character and for promoting this new character even without television time. I would much rather guys do that than bitch and whine like JTG did. I like the look of the clips, I like the humour in them and I think that he could make this work. Wouldn't be any worse than any of the others that are in the midcard on both shows. Hopefully he can get a bit of a following and make it onto television.

Derrick Bateman has what it takes to make it and with this gimmick I can see him being successful.

It could, at the very least, be the new comic relief around the WWE because, let's face it: Santino is stale as week old Sourdough.

I wouldn't mind another comedic character just as long as the wrestler actually wrestles. The thing that can get frustrating about Santino is the fact that his character does comedy whilst wrestling and has fights with a sock. I am all for comedy in wrestling but prefer it to be kept outside the ring.

I compare Bateman to Eric Young on how goofy and not funny he is. Just another guy that won't be anything in the business so nothing to get crazy about.

Not everyone can be a maineventer. If he can have a career similar to Eric Young, a multi time tag team and singles champion and been with TNA for close to a decade, then he will have done very well for himself.

You don't think EY is funny? Wow. Regardless, Bateman's segments with Bryan on NXT were awesome.

Eric Young makes me laugh more than Santino and everyone in the WWE, except Sandow, who I dig.

And this Bateman's schtick is pretty awesome, hope we see him be cool on TV very soon. After all, he's a Derrick. :Derrick:

I compare Bateman to EY because of how hilarious they both are. Cena even promoted these vignettes on his Twitter, I think they're awesome.

I have no desire to see more of Derrick Bateman but if it gets him a Zack Ryder-esque following then more power to him.

His homoerotic bromance with Daniel Bryan was the high point of Danielson's career, IMO. Since then he's been morbidly overpushed, but I could bear him in a Billy & Chuck tag w/ Bateman I guess.

So a guy taking initiative and trying to get over by himself?

What a concept?!!?!

This could work, WWE should test the waters on this and see how he holds onto it with character.
