In the final episode of the WWE Network's The Last Ride documentary series, legendary pro wrestler The Undertaker announces his retirement.

For the past few weeks, the WWE Network has been airing The Last Ride documentary, offering fans an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at the legendary career of The Undertaker. The final episode of The Last Ride aired today, and it included the shocking announcement that "The Dead Man" is officially retiring from the WWE.

"I’m at a point that this time the cowboy really rides away," Undertaker said at the end of the documentary. Undertaker indicated that he is satisfied with what he has accomplished in his WWE career, and that the Boneyard Match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36 would be the perfect match to end on. The Boneyard Match was notable for its innovative cinematic take on professional wrestling, and earned a great deal of critical acclaim from pro wrestling journalists at the time.

However, professional wrestling retirements rarely last, and The Undertaker has acknowledged that he may actually return one day. Undertaker is still technically under contract to WWE, and it's entirely possible that Vince McMahon will ask him to wrestle another match. While that may be the case, it doesn't seem as though Undertaker has any real intention of returning to the ring, and so WWE fans may have already witnessed his final match.

The Undertaker's career speaks for itself. Whether it was the numerous world championship victories or his legendary undefeated streak at WrestleMania, he has created arguably the most impressive legacy in all of professional wrestling. And while WWE fans may not get to see Undertaker wrestle again, he will almost certainly be a permanent fixture in future WWE 2K video games.

Huh, well the Extreme Rules tag team match and Boneyard matches were two good ones to end on. Doubt he could really do better so not a bad time to finally step away at all. I don't know if I believe it but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until he comes out of it for another Saudi match.

I think the last Episode for the Taker Doc is tonight I think, but one of last of the Outlaws puts his Motorcycle in the Garage. One of the best to ever do it as we all know, and I'm happy I got to see Taker from the beginning to the end.

I would say this is as good of a time as any to retire but that just wouldn't be true. :lol I'd say he had better chances to do it after the Lesnar series or Reigns match. Although the Reigns match flopped, fans wouldn't care that much. They would remember the symbolism of his gear laying in the ring at the end of WrestleMania. But he kinda fucked all that off. :lol

Regardless of that... good for Taker. He's one of the great gimmick characters of all time, if not the greatest. One of the WWE's greatest superstars. One of the only guys (up until his ring work fell off a cliff) that was able to maintain a mythical aura throughout his career. He's one of the greats, so cheers to a hell of a career.

WWE seemingly confirming this is it for Taker. What a ride. I do think he should have stayed retired after his loss to Roman.

That said, I did enjoy the Boneyard Match so I won't sweat it too hard.

I don’t believe this for a second. This is like the tenth time he’s retired. And I’m not really sure why he wouldn’t want to have a 30th anniversary match at survivor series. Like why would you retire 3 months before your 30 year anniversary lmao. But regardless I feel like he wants to go out in front of a crowd so I think he’ll be back. If he’s not though then it’s one hell of a ride. Undoubtedly the greatest character in wrestling history. To have a 30 year career in the WWE is unheard of. He’s literally outlasted em all. Truly one of the greatest entertainers of all time.

Now that you mention it a retirement match at Survivor Series would have been the perfect exit for him.

He probably fears it'll get bungled and just wants to go out into the good night quietly and peacefully.

That said, Vince signed him to like a 15-year deal so expect when the Saudi deal is back on, so will he.

Taker can’t say no. He’s wanted to retire for years and every time Vince says “Can you go one more time?” Taker caves. I’m 99% sure in 2-3 years when his body feels somewhat better and Vince offers some of the Sweet Saudi money, we’re gonna get Taker/Karrion Kross or something to that affect

He did say in the documentary that if Vince is in a pinch and he calls him then he’d consider it. That’s basically where his career is. He’s retired but if Vince needs him for for one match a year than he’ll do it. If Vince never asks him to wrestle again then yeah this is it but if he does then he’ll be back. All we can do is wait and see.

Boneyard match stole the show.....pretty much what he wanted.

Good send-off.
