Been a minute since I’ve listened to this album. Doom’s flow is impeccable as always but Madlib’s beats are even more on point here. Except for the instrumentals those are mostly a miss imo but the ones with Doom are just a perfect marriage. The 3 song span of Figaro, Hardcore Hustle, and Strange Ways are the high point imo but it’s all in all an A- for me

I noticed one of the instrumentals wasn't on Spotify anymore oddly, but not a big loss there lol

* I actually don't know if I've listened to Madvillainy as a complete work.

* Not a fan of skit stuff, so the first song being the intro skit doesn't give me a positive start. I understand there is an importance of theatre to a lot of albums, but it still a pass on content like that. I feel like I am just not getting it, but Accordion, Meat Grinder and Bistro just passed me by and I was left wondering what is this? Like when it the actual content going to begin? Perhaps MF Doom on this album just isn't my flavour, because I know he is a top guy for a lot of people who've talked about this record.

* There was something very experimental about this album that was raw and far from conventional but despite listening from head to toe I just never attached to it at any points. Strangely enough I found myself thinking of albums that I have enjoyed, that others have looked at me with "WTF" faces and it reminded me of 100 gecs' ablum 10,000 gecs. Where it in someways is similar to Madvilliany in that it doesn't follow any rules and it does what it wants. In this case though I was not signing up for the experiment. I am not giving this a rating, because I was just left confused rather than actually disliking it. MM...Food I remember in a much positive light so it a skill issue or a taste issue on my end in not getting his album.

Sometimes I feel like it flows. Sometimes it doesn't I think if it flows in my head, I dont even realize it is a skit.
