I know some of us like to enjoy a drink or two now and again. Be it beer, wine or spirits, this is the place to talk about it. Tell us about your favourite's, tell us some funny drinking stories, or just tell us what you are drinking right now. Any and all booze talk goes here!

The following are some of my current favourites...

112674.jpg

This is Netherworld Cascadian Dark Ale, brewed by Ontario craft brewing company Flying Monkey's. It has all the flavour of an Imperial Stout with a full on hop finish, creating a truly unique taste.

Another excellent Canadian microbrew, St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout is a truly fantastic old world style stout, chock full of flavour and a beautiful finish. Simply magical.

dogfish-head-90-minute-imperial-ipa-21351454.jpg

Not to be outdone by their Canadian contemporaries, US brewer Dogfish Head has created perhaps the greatest Imperial IPA of all time. Coming in at a tasty 9% ABV this one packs a nice punch but finishes so smooth you'd swear you were drinking water until you get up to go to the bathroom and find yourself sitting right back down.

Mrs. Fuji was lucky enough to purchase a case of this excellent Francis Ford Coppola Diamond Label Pinot Noir for my birthday present and I have to say it was one of the best I have ever received. It is simply one of the best wines I have ever had and is truly saved for special occasions, well a few of the bottles will be anyways!

Yoichi202Bbox.gif

Yoichi is a Japanese Whisky largely considered to be the best in the world. It's not cheap, but it's totally worth it because its strong smoke and blackcurrant flavours are unmatched and make for a truly unique and exceptional drinking experience.

So how about you folks, don't be shy, come on in here and let your booze flag fly!

Excellent thread!

When I was in college, my buddies and I used to hang out at this bar about a half hour from our campus. The place was called Effin Gruven, and they served the most varied collection of beer and wine I had ever seen. Locally brewed stuff, exotic imports of all kinds. And it was a totally chill place too. No food, no TVs, no assholes... just a lot of booze, a jukebox, and laughs.

It was there that I was introduced to a magnificent barleywine brewed up by Brooklyn Brewery called Monster Ale.

2237.jpg

Such a robust flavor, goes down real smooth, and before you know it, you can't feel your toes. It's a seasonal brew though, so it's only available from December to March. Some of Brooklyn Brewery's other recipes are quite tasty as well, but Monster Ale has a special place in my heart.

I tend to like darker colored beers more than light ones. I love me some Guinness. If wherever I'm at doesn't serve Guinness, I'll usually take a Heineken. I also like Landshark, which is odd because it's just like Corona and I hate Corona. Corona makes my cheeks tweak like I just jammed a handful of sour patch kids into my mouth, but Landshark doesn't.

I also love me some red wine. There are few things finer than a good merlot to me.

Nice one dude, Brooklyn is an exceptional American craft brewer and I count their Black Chocolate Stout and Local 1 among my favourites. Don't think I've ever had the Monster Ale but I love barleywine so I would definitely like to try it one day.

Just outside of vegas at a place called Lake Las Vegas, ( a man made lake put there by a big company so they could build a casino and residences around it) Right off the lake there is Las Vegas' largest outdoors mall. At this mall there is a place called Shrier's Pub and Brewery. At Shrier's they brew their own beer/lager, 120 different kinds of it. They don't sell it anywhere except for this one pub/brewery, and according to the bartender the owner has no intentions of ever doing so... Too bad for anyone that doesn't visit it, because he brews up some of the best suds Ive EVER had. He has a blackberry brew that is off the charts good. Rich and Delicious and after you get done you can taste and smell Blackberries. I suggest this place with all my heart, if you ever come to vegas, be sure to get a hold of me, we'll go get a drink or two.

As for my favorite beer anyone could get, Sam Adams has really won me over. Just about every flavor of it tastes great to me. The black lager though has a special place in my heart. It's got a nice flavor that's neither too over the top nor budweiser, due in large part to the way they make it a much more german style of lager brewing. And oh yeah, it's available year round! Man, I'll be back, I need a drink.

Sam Adams never really blew me away until I tried their Noble Pils, which is fucking superb in every way and one of my favourite draft beers.

I can't believe I totally no sold Sam Adams! They have a few great flavors. One of my favorites is their Cherry Wheat.

Fuji, definitely check out Monster if you can. It's an excellent drink.

And CC, your story about Shrier's (which I will visit should I ever venture out to Vegas) reminded that I've been wanting to check this place out in downtown West Palm. It's an Italian restaurant/microbrewery called Brewzzi. I've heard some great things about it.

Although I am not as cultured as you guys in drinking, I occasionally (once or twice a year) have a beer or two. I've tried all kinds of different beers in my day but I go back to the tried and true Miller Lite. I also enjoy the occasional Labatts Blue as well. It is about the only beer I can stomach anymore. I used to love Killians Irish Red back in the day, but not so much anymore. I've never been a wine person either. Jack Daniels used to be my hard liquor of choice as well.

I am currently negotiating a trade with another member on ratebeer.com so hopefully I will have some within the next week or two. Cheers!

My favorite beer is a nice dark Zeigenbach, made in Texas...but a Shinerbach will do just fine.

Other than that, you can't go wrong with Bud/Bud Light...

Don't know if we're going liquor in here or not...

Yes Drew, that's why I mentioned Yoichi in my original post, any and all booze is talked about in here, so if you've got some favourite liquors bring it on! Oh and Bud Light is pretty nasty, its very close to Club Soda imo.

I'm more of a Bud man myself...but most people I know drink Bud Light relegiously, so I've grown accostomed to it.

And if you want to talk a NASTY beer...it's Corona through and through. No matter how many times I've tried it, it gets worse and worse. And it's not like most beers, which all taste nasty to start with, you eventually get used to it, and maybe even like it(like Zeigenbach for one!)...I've yet to have a Corona without feeling like I want to throw up.

As for liquor...Some Crown Special Reserve is god's gift for alcholics, lol.

I agree with you there, I think Corona is probably the worst beer produced today and the fact that it is so high priced is hilarious. I've often said it's not a beer if you need to stick a piece of fruit into it to give it flavour, and that's what Corona is. Even worse is the horrid Corona Light...arrggh!

since I've turned 21 my best drinking outings have been to microbreweries. They give you a flavor and quality that a storebought nation wide type beer could never come close too. I should get a list of the MBs here in town and put them up, we've got a few award winners here.

Have you ever tried the black lager?
