SAO PAULO -- A plane with 62 people aboard crashed in a fiery wreck in a residential area of a city in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state Friday, the airline said, but it was not immediately clear how many people were injured or killed.

The airline VoePass confirmed in a statement that a plane headed for Sao Paulo’s international airport Guarulhos crashed in the city of Vinhedo with 58 passengers and 4 crew members aboard. The statement didn’t say what caused the accident.

At an event in southern Brazil, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva asked the crowd to stand and observe a minute of silence as he shared the news. He said that it appeared that all passengers and crew aboard had died, without elaborating as to how that information had been obtained.
Firefighters, military police and the civil defense authority dispatched teams to the crash site in Vinhedo.

Brazilian television network GloboNews showed footage of a large area on fire and smoke coming out of an apparent plane fuselage in a residential area full of houses. Additional footage on GloboNews showed a plane drifting downward vertically, spiraling as it fell.

No survivors confirmed by multiple outlets now seems like a freak thing, also lucky no one on the ground seems to be hurt if you're trying to find some solace in something because the plane crashed in someone's actual backyard

The Israeli military acknowledged the strike on the Tabeen school in central Gaza City, claiming it hit a Hamas command center within the school. Hamas denied that.

There have been reports of increasing Israeli attacks on Gaza’s schools, which have become shelters for people who have been forced to flee their homes by the war.

Trump in three crucial battleground states, according to new surveys by The New York Times and Siena College, the latest indication of a dramatic reversal in standing for Democrats after President Biden’s departure from the presidential race remade it.

Ms. Harris is ahead of Mr. Trump by four percentage points in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan, 50 percent to 46 percent among likely voters in each state. The surveys were conducted from Aug. 5 to 9.

The polls, some of the first high-quality surveys in those states since Mr. Biden announced he would no longer run for re-election, come after nearly a year of surveys that showed either a tied contest or a slight lead for Mr. Trump over Mr. Biden.

I think picking Walz was also a very clear sign to undecided leftists that their interests matter too.

I was just talking abour this tho btw but isn't it interesting that Harris/Walz are being framed as super woke leftists by the far right when in all honesty they're both pretty moderate candidates when you think about it.

The right has done a bang-up job these last 12 years of pushing the Overton Window of American politics back towards their way so now fairly moderate policies are now "woke liberal propoganda"
