President Joe Biden is commuting the sentences of roughly 1,500 people who were released from prison and placed on home confinement during the coronavirus pandemic and is pardoning 39 Americans convicted of nonviolent crimes. It’s the largest single-day act of clemency in modern history.

The commutations announced Thursday are for people who have served out home confinement sentences for at least one year after they were released. Prisons were uniquely bad for spreading the virus and some inmates were released in part to stop the spread. At one point, 1 in 5 prisoners had COVID-19, according to a tally kept by The Associated Press.

If anything, I'm predicting more billionaires or wealthy businessmen are going to be shot or killed in the streets in the coming years.

The fear of God should be put in these rich assholes anyways to start treating the working class better because otherwise they'll be cannibalized.

See: The French Revolution for how that happens.

The man who helped bring Britain to its knees in helping Boris Johnson and Michael Gove with the European Referendum. He is so deluded and Egotistical Dominic Cummings, no doubt he's a very intelligent chap but he's one deluded guy. I don't want to speak my true feelings as I just can't stand some of the Tory Right. Boris Johnson was found out and now the country is feeling it since. This guy has Gaulle on him in this rare interview. Laura Kuenssberg with more fantastic Journalism here.

Brexit was good for the country Cummings said, We've had no growth since. The whole Leave campaign was built on a lie and it's very well known IF we ever had a Vote to Rejoin Europe. But it won't happen unfortunately.

Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi, 84, was hospitalized while abroad on a congressional delegation, her office said on Friday.

"While traveling with a bipartisan Congressional delegation in Luxembourg to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation," her spokesperson Ian Krager said in a statement.

The Texas attorney general opened a new front in the contentious battle over access to abortion this week by suing a New York doctor for sending abortion pills into Texas. It appeared to be among the first attempts to stop the mailing of such medication into states that ban abortion.
The lawsuit from Attorney General Ken Paxton — filed on Thursday in state court in Collin County, north of Dallas — pits the laws of Texas, which has a near-total ban on abortion, against those of New York, where lawmakers have taken steps to shield doctors from out-of-state prosecution.
Under shield laws, states like New York will refuse to cooperate with attempts by other states to prosecute or sue abortion providers who prescribe and send pills across state lines. Such laws exist in eight states and have allowed doctors there to send more than 10,000 abortion pills per month to women in states with bans.

One of the scumbags released was a judge in Pennsylvania who was getting kickbacks from detention centers for sending kids to them. He made millions sending kids away. It was called the kids for cash crap. It has made my job harder because he was a corrupt judge.

He's a fucking loser. It's not what you know its who you know when one is that high up in society. I heard that rumour a while back that the federal government makes money the DOJ in Colorado. They've been on about a new nail in downtown New York too. I never heard of such a thing in this country. Jails are like Hotels apparently, least in the U.S Jail is Jail no perks. In the UK they get TV's, perks, values etc.

Sorry to hear about your job being harder man, that sucks.

South Korea’s National Assembly voted to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol on Saturday, suspending him from office after his stunning declaration of martial law earlier this month caused widespread outrage and plunged the country into a constitutional crisis.

With the impeachment vote, Mr. Yoon has been suspended from office. Under South Korea’s Constitution, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will step in as interim leader.

“This is a victory for the South Korean people and for democracy,” Park Chan-dae, the opposition floor leader said at a news conference.

ABC News and George Stephanopoulos have reached a settlement with Donald Trump in his defamation suit. The network will pay $15 million to a charity and will issue an apology.

The settlement was filed publicly Saturday and reveals ABC will pay $15 million as a charitable contribution to a “presidential foundation and museum to be established by or for the Plaintiff.”

The network will also pay $1 million in Trump’s attorneys’ fees.

I don't comment here much; more of a lurker. But late-term pardons are typically a sitting president's way of repaying people he owes favors to. Donors, lobbyists, etc. Somebody Biden owed a favor to had a connection to this judge, so Joe is holding up his end of the bargain.

Apparently the money goes to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library according to AP
