Cuba’s electrical grid shut down on Friday, putting the country into a blackout after the failure of one of the island’s major power plants, according to its energy ministry.

In a statement on X, the ministry said “the failure” of the Antonio Guiteras Power Plant caused “the total disconnection of the National Electrical System” from 11 a.m. ET on Friday.

Donald J. Trump on Friday tried to revise the history of the deadly attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob, as new details in the federal prosecution against him were made public by the judge in the case.

His attempt to recast the events of Jan. 6, 2021, came on the same day that he compared his supporters who were arrested, convicted and imprisoned for their actions at the Capitol to the victims of the Japanese internment camps in the United States during World War II. And it followed a recent remark in which Mr. Trump declared Jan. 6 a day of “love.”

The former president made his comments about Jan. 6 and its aftermath at a time when, just weeks before Election Day, uncommitted voters in battleground states tell pollsters that among their top concerns is that they view him as a threat to democracy.

The Biden administration is proposing a rule that would expand access to contraceptive products, including making over-the-counter birth control and condoms free for the first time for women of reproductive age who have private health insurance.

Under the proposal by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor Department, and Treasury Department, which was announced by the administration on Monday, health insurance companies would be required to cover all recommended over-the-counter contraception products, such as condoms, spermicide and emergency contraception, without a prescription and at no cost, according to senior administration officials.

Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries and two other men were arrested and charged with 16 counts of sex trafficking and interstate prostitution by federal prosecutors in New York, case documents made public Tuesday showed.

Jeffries, 80, was arrested in West Palm Beach, Florida, a spokesman for federal prosecutors in Brooklyn told CNBC.

Matthew Smith, who is described in a grand jury indictment as Jeffries’ romantic partner, and James Jacobson, who allegedly recruited men “to perform commercial sex acts” for Jeffries and Smith, were also arrested.

All three men face one count of sex trafficking and 15 counts of interstate prostitution related to alleged misconduct that spanned from December 2008 to March 2015.

The indictment in U.S. District Court in Long Island alleges that the defendants and others “operated an international sex trafficking and prostitution business” during that time.
